Bio

Mike's Background: I grew up and lived in Sanagamon County, IL until 1990. I have lived in Columbus, OH since 2000. I am a member of the Tuscarawas County, Ohio Historical Society.

My pedigree on my father's side is Roy Joseph Sponsler (1918-1982), his father Robert Orison Sponsler (1875-1926), his father Richard Sponsler (~1823-1908) and his father William Sponsler (circa 1780-1845). I am researching the Sponsler family who migrated from Frederick County, MD in the 1830s to Tuscarawas County, OH. My ggrandfather Richard migrated to Greene County, IN circa 1847; he then moved to Illinois (first to Morgan County and then settled in Sangamon County where my family resided until 2010).
On my maternal side we are researching the Finney family of Johnson County, Illinois who moved on to become prominent doctors and pharmacists in southeastern MO, i.e. Cape Girardeau, Laflin areas.
On the other maternal side is the Kerns family. This line has been thoroughly researched by Wilmer Kerns in his book , "Kerns Family Roots in Virginia" that is available for purchase directly from Wilmer Kerns.

Doris' Background:
I am a descendant of the Spencer, Davidson, and Hensley families of Perry County, Kentucky who lived in Dock's Hollow off of Grapevine Creek. I am researching these families and their various branches. I'd love to exchange family information with others.
