Thank you.
Thanks for the info about the other cemetery. I will look it up as soon as I get done here. My son lives in Florida on the west coast, I got my daughter-in-law Mona doing Find a Grave too. Some of the graves in Florida are very interesting.

Thanks Again,
Peg

I have always been excited to be the direct descendant of their eldest daughter, Sarah Rapalje. My line is thru her son Joris Hansen Bergen.

Which child of Joris Rapalje and Catalina Trico are you descended from?

Thanks Marianne. I read Mr. Shorto's book a while back and it started me along the path of appreciating the early Dutch history of NYC. This was well before I had any idea that I had a family connection too. I live near St. Mark's Church in the Bowery and have worked with the church on numerous historical matters, so I feel a deep connection in many wonderful ways to these ancestors, as I'm sure you do too. Thanks again!!

Thank you so much for the information on my ancestors. I will definitely get the book. Do you ever get to go to the Old Dutch Cemetery? I have a picture of it. I was told a lot of people don't want to go to the cemetery.
Thank you,
Peg Garrison(Voorhees)

Read "The Island at the Center of the World" by Russell Shorto when it first came out- i think it was in 2005. It has their marriage record in the book.

Thanks!
I understand the different scenarios, but wondered if you happen to see his marker when you are at C. Hills please let me know. I'm thinking he may elsewhere, or that the lady was misinformed. She has not included her contact info each inquiry either which is time consuming to track down. I'm not eager to go back to that front desk to inquire...ha! Yet! Have a great week!

Hayward Messer photo request
Thank you so much for trying to fulfill this request. I was afraid that his grave had never been marked.

Thanks!
I'm happy to know S. Abbey has changed for the better. As far as C. Hills goes, there was a woman at the front desk whom was very unhelpful and wondered if I were "one of those people" and could not comphrehend why we care where someone was buried and a plot # is just a # ! Well, I was happy to enlightened her and then a gentleman came out happy to assist me. After I had the data I came for, he wound up trying to sell myself some plots! He said he thought I looked familar, but I assured him we'd never met prior. I took 100+ photos that day. Ha! I do have a question on one of my memorials that someone feels may not be interred there because someone couldn't locate him, but at the time I created the memorial, he was listed at C. Hills:
Arthur Eden.

I was delighted to find the grave markers of my paternal grandparents this morning (in Dunedin, Fla). And I see that *you* were responsible for posting their information. I'm grateful to you for doing so. Thanks!
