RE: Jane Elizabeth Elliott Wilcox
I am new here and don't see how to send a private message. Is that possible?

I am thinking it would not be good to put my email on a public message.

Jane Elizabeth Elliott Wilcox
Greetings,
Jane Elizabeth Elliott Wilcox is my gggggrandmother I am looking for her parents.

Some records on Ancestry show here as being born in Louisiana but everything else seems to point to Charleston.

Do you have any information on her parents?

Thank you for your time,
Sharon

If you are planning to visit Morris Street Cemetery, based on a couple of visits... you might go during December / January, as it is no longer cared for and quite overgrown.

RE: Robert Walton (1791-1870
To continue: Mr. Walton is buried in a brick wall containment area with (next to) Evelina Walton 1796-1868 - Elizabeth Walton Clarke (daughter who died in 1835 of measles at age 21) Robert Clarke - Evelina Walton (daughter died in 1843 at age 11) - James Clarke and Felixina Almeda Rood.

Most all of the graves in this cemetery were a box tomb with Brick sides with a grave sized marble slab on top. The brick sides raised the marble slab approximately a foot off of the ground. The down side is that most of the slabs broke.

Yes, you can use the images of the Walton family from this cemetery.

Hey Marianne,

The Morris Street Cemetery is unlike most cemeteries, as it actually sits in the back yard
of a residence at the NE corner of Wrightsboro Road and Morris Street near
downtown Augusta. It is almost totally under a canopy of trees and doesn’t really show up looking like a cemetery on Google Maps. I have copied the Google Map screenshot below. The cemetery is the clump of trees in the middle
of the screenshot. If you look just above the trees you can see a “square” outline which is actually the brick wall surrounding the area where Mr. Walton is buried.

https://www.google.com/maps/@33.4671504,-82.0068305,138m/data=!3m1!1e3!5m1!1e1

On the Main Cemetery Page I have shown a map that shows where all 39 graves are located and then on each memorial, I have listed the transcription
that appeared on each headstone. I got all of this info from a 1939 book on microfiche
at the Richmond County Library.

Pamela Moseley Robertson
Hello Marianne,
This is your cousin Catherine in Augusta. I have found that Pamela's death date on her stone is incorrect. I imagine there was not a stone on her grave until much later when William died in 1859. She actually died on that date in 1837. I have found other sources for this date. She is named in her father's will, and if she had died in 1832, then she would not have been alive at the time he wrote it. Also, I found the correct date in "Southside Virginia Genealogies," by John Pritchett. This caused me quite a problem when proving my brother's lineage for the Jamestowne Society. I had joined on my grandmother's line. If you need any copies, just let me know and I will send them straight on. Catherine

Thank You
Dear Marianne,

I can't thank you enough for fulfilling my photo request for a picture of my father's grave. It means so much to me to be able to see that the headstone is in place and that all is well, since I can't travel to Florida to see it.

You are wonderful.

With so much gratitude,

Pamela Zoslov

Just want you to know that the time and effort you put into this is very much appreciated! This is an important part of my genealogy (a part I just recently found out about)and I have very little information on this person-so this means a lot to me.

No, I checked the front and back of the marker as well as the surrounding area. There were no indications other than "Touris" as to whom is buried there.
