RE: Memorials
Gotcha! From now on, I will just use "in-Jesus" instead of "in-Christ" in non-Christian memorials to prevent rubbing people from other faiths the wrong way. Thank you so much for enlightening me and God bless!

RE: Memorials
Ms. Lambert, thank you so much for your words of encouragement!

It's a fact of life that you can never really impress everyone. There will always be at least one person out there who doesn't share your own views and style in paying tribute to the faithfully departed, and religion is sadly one such major dividing factor. I even recently received here a message (which I have since deleted due to its personally distressing nature) from someone (name not mentioned) who is supposedly highly knowledgeable in the Holocaust that I shouldn't leave tokens mentioning "Christ" in Holocaust victims's memorials as Jews are particularly offended by such offerings. That's why I have temporarily put on hold the inclusion of child victims of the Holocaust in my virtual cemetery until I receive a reply within 2 weeks time from that person asking why are they offended by the mere mention of "Christ" and what would be a better term then.

Nevertheless, I will not let other people deter me from doing what I'm doing as I know in my heart that I am not deliberately stepping on other people's toes. If there is no one out there willing to create a hall of remembrance for those innocent angels (many of who have been long forgotten), regardless of what their race, religion, gender, nationality or social class was, then I will do it.

Thank you so much as well for your sympathy and kindness. Here's wishing you all the very best in life and God bless!

Could you please add a date of birth for Mr. Stager? It is May 22, 1947. I was watching City Confidential and it showed his headstone. Thank you so much.

Hi Karen,
I have been wanting to post something on my Bio regarding the use of my photo's on other web sites. You said it perfectly. I wonder if I could copy and paste the two sections regarding photo's. Nothing I could write, would be so well written. Thanks either way, Dan

Karen, I am Billy Ben's first cousin. Lost track of him after our grandfather's funeral in 1976. Was shocked to see that he passed away. Did you know him ?

Karen, take a look at this memorial using the aluminum foil for impressions.

I would be honored to be listed as your friend. Please send me memorial numbers that show some of the work you described as an alternative to our using aluminum foil (although that's all the county allows us to use). I'd be interested to see the result/s. I have on a couple of occasions, photographed the aluminum foil which showed the impression I was able to obtain...and posted same on the memorial.

Rubbings
In researching, somehow came across your contributor name. Periodically I look at a contributor's profile, just happened I took a peek at yours. When I saw your mention of photos and rubbings, wondered if you use the same technique that we do, aluminum foil and soft toothbrush. In S.C. I am told there is a no-rubbing law, not that there is a cemetery policeman out there, but that's the story. With all the work we do for Horry County, we pretty much have to comply with everything, so we have found we can use aluminum foil across the face of the stone and use a soft toothbrush, which creates an impression on the Al foil... technique allows the taphophilist to decipher stone inscriptions (dates, etc.). What's nice about it is that no residue is left on the stone, either visible residue or invisible residue, we can reuse the aluminum foil also and it's quicker than a typical chalk rubbing or any other type impression rubbing. The Al foil stays in place and is so maleable. Just wanted to pass this on.. from one grave walker to another. Susan

Someone had already opened a memorial for Helen Gurley Brown... http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=95304510 ... not sure how duplicates are sorted out on the site, but depending upon how you're related to her, I'm sure they would consider a transfer request.
