Jane-
I stopped by the grave today while I was taking other photos - still chalked from my last visit since it hasn't rained. I took another photo and added it to the memorial

I examined the stone closely and it still looks like a 9 although the age and condition of the stone definitely screams 8.

I hope that helps.

Regards, Don

I went ahead and changed the memorial death date to 1873.

I chalked the memorial but forgot to take a picture of it afterwards. I'll get over this week sometime and check it out.

Regards, Don

photo requests at Fairmount Willow Hills Memorial
If you call the cemetery and get the burial location I will go out and take the photos that you requested. Due to privacy laws this cemetery will not give out grave locations to non-family members.
You can email me direct at szalko67@msn.com or post the plot number on your memorial pages and I'll keep an eye out for them.

Thanks so much for that addition to the summary. Now I can finish my research and enter info on Ancestry. Have a nice and safe holiday weekend.

Marie Braungardt 1834-1914
While doing family research, I was viewing your write up on Marie. Below the marriage records you note that dates are from MODC 39371. I have not been able to access that record..what is the name on that record so that I can view the record. My family has a number of Meinershagens among my ancestors. Any information would be appreciated. Your information on Marie has been great. Sue Hanson

It does in fact read that James died at age 14 and Mary died at age 4.

RE: maiden name
Hi Jane,

I figured it was something like that. Also, we do spell by how it sounds, which is different than theres. And many have name change and spelling when they come into our country.

RE: maiden name
Hi

I wonder if Ornst is the German spelling or something like that, and Ahrens is American translation.

Glad to help.

RE: my requests
Granneman and Wehmeyer stones, like Thee, are prevalent in the area. I will try and post additional stones that may help with your research. Do you know of any other cities or townships that your family may have entered? I can send you leads, if you like.

RE: another request
Thee family markers are prevalent in this area .. virtually every cemetery I visit has Thee family. It seems they made quite an impact and I appreciate their contributions to the place I now call home. In Chamois cemetery, there are simple yet elegant wooden crosses. At other burial grounds, they may have hand carved field stone or larger professional monuments. The personally carved markers are my favorite ...so very telling of the love and devotion within the family.

I'm back. Been a bit busy lately but have transferred that pic and deleted my old memorial. Glad you knew his full name and I am sorry the stone is in such bad condition.

Gustav Schroer
Found Clara Schroer, but not Gustav. Visit to city records not productive, as they are incomplete and in very poor condition. I will try to contact UCC church leaders this weekend to verify location of Gustav's burial ... suspect it is beneath a large yucca plant next to Clara's.

RE: Teigler
Ok I was wrong on Elizabeth she is on the south side and William is on the north facing Mary and 3 stones matching hers. They are some what hard to read and I can't even pronounce the names, their is noting on the back of Mary's.
Soon as my phone can finds a connection I will upload them to my computer and will be able to read them, they look like they might be kids.

RE: photo requests
Yes he his on the same marker as Elizabeth she on the back side (east), William (north) and faces Mary. The last name on the bottom of their stone faces the west if I remember right the south side is blank. On the other side Mary, I'm thinking there was another Teigler but not 100% on that.

Hope this helps.
