RE: Mary Lois McGowin 121949293
Good Morning, Mrs. Kay,
I wanted you to know that I transferred Mrs. Mary Lois' memorial page to you. I am so glad that you like her picture. We went to the same church and that picture was taken at a senior citizen lunch held at the church in 2003. I am sorry about Mrs. Mary Lois' passing. She was always so nice to me, and I know that we all will miss her, just like we miss Bro. Jack. If there is anything that I, my family, or her church family can do to help during this time, please let me know.

John Calhoun Watson
Thank you for the picture on John Calhoun Watson in Zions Rest Primitive Church Cemetery. Sarah Mount Watson Spencer is my husbands gr gr gr grandmother. I noticed the tombstone says he died in 1909 and the summary says 1903. Was that a typo? Thanks again, Angela Garrett

Martha Watson
I looked at every Watson grave in the cemetery to see if there was a likely unmarked grave near any of the listed graves. Nothing there. I went to the local library where there is a reference book, "Santa Rosa Cemeteries, gravestone inscriptions for all cemeteries in Santa Rosa Cemeteries", published by the West Florida Genealogical Society. There is no Martha Watson listed there. Based on the obit, I'm pretty sure she is buried in the Cemetery but very probably in one of the unmarked graves. If there were a headstone anywhere in the county with the name of Martha Watson, it would be listed in the book.

I'm sorry but I tried.

I'm going to "unclaim" the picture and leave it up to you as to whether or not to remove the request.

Good Luck,

Martha Watson
Sorry about not getting straight on the request but I was unexpectedly out of town for a week.

I have the master list of burials at Milton-Berryhill Cemetery but Martha Watson isn't on it. There are 5 Watsons listed:
Francis 1911-1996
Frank 1896-1980
M S 1923-1996
O L 1919-?
Robert 1859 infant

Is there a possibility of Martha's relation to one of these?

In addition to the listings, there are around 300 unmarked or illegible grave sites at the cemetery.

I sent the information and the obit to the person in charge of the cemetery asking if he has any suggestion. Do you have anything else?

Mattie Watson Find A Grave Memorial# 25060718
Kay, I note that you have no dates for Mattie Watson who married Mark Louis Watson.

Birth: Feb 1881
Death: Dec 1835, Escambia County, Alabama
Burial: Beulah Cemetery, Brewton, Escambia, Alamaba (you have this info already)

Great FREE site that is constantly adding information. I find I have to check daily or at least weekly for is the link

You do have to sign up and log in, but once you do it is pretty straight forward. Some documents you can see the original and download and others you can only see the transcription and the reference information where then you can go to a library and order the film or call the county and order a copy of the orginal document to gleen all the information which one could find there.

I am not related personally to the Watson family, but my daughter-in-law is. Her great grandmother is Rosalie Freeman/Idell Watson/Fannie Simmons...this is her heritage. Her mother was raised in Birmingham, Alabama, her grandfather just passed away and he has two brother who still live in the area. Lindsay has a tree at ancestry which work on for her. She gets me the information (answers questions I have and tries to bug for photos from her uncle who got the Watson stuff) and I research, contact and add/edit her family tree. Anyway I thought you would appreciate getting this information. I would like to use the photos to add to her tree and credit you with the Memorial if that is ok with you. I have been in contact with Felicia in the past and I have just tonight ask for her persmission as well to use the pictures to add to Lindsay's tree. Her tree happens to be a private tree and she invites those who we are working with on family lines. Look forward to hearing from you. Debbie Woods

RE: Watson Family
Hey Kay,

I finally have a few moments to focus on genealogy and would like to correspond on the Watson family. I have actually been striking out on any information for Ella Simmons Watson - Malcolm, Carrie, and Clyde's mother. But I have some information on the Watson's up to the senior Lewis M. Watson that I would be happy to share.

Odom Cemetery
The photo requests didn't move. I went ahead and uploaded them directly to Odom Cemetery. The only problem was Velma. There was a Thelma with the same death date, but a birthdate of Dec 5, 1901. Also there are some names you didn't have. Contact me directly via my profile and I'll send you the information. I don't have time to do it tonight though.

I found Odom Cemetery and I think every grave you were seeking was there. If you move the memorials from Burch to Odom, I'll add the photos. I have to edit them for uploading but I should be able to get that done tonight.

Burch/Odom Cemetery
I found the book you mentioned. It does have Odom Cemetery listed and the people you requested photos for are listed there. But it's not Burch Cemetery. There were no directions only the township and section where the cemetery is located. I'll have to go back to the library to find a township map.

William Tatum
Maddox Family
Hi Kay,

Thank you for your nice note.I worked a number of years for Hulett Funeral Home and located the graves for you in Highland Park Cemetery. There was another two interments in the picture, Glenn M Maddox June 22, 1910 - May 10, 1952 and Louise L June 15, 1915 - December 15, 1978.

This marker is the pink one in the series photograph and I will be happy to add them without you requesting them. Just let me know. Glad I could help.

I can probably find that book in the USM genealogy library. It won't be till next week at the earliest. I'll try to stop by Highland cemetery tomorrow and get the location of the graves you are looking for and take the pictures Sunday.

Roseland - Maddox
I also posted a picture for Edith May Maddox. Florence was the only Maddox I could find at Seal Cemetery.

I also went to Burch Cemetery. There are no Maddox people buried there. The pictures on the site is the cemetery I went to. There was no cemetery sign. I looked around the area and couldn't find another nearby cemetery.
