Charles E. Baxter
BAXTER, Charles E.
POLSON Longtime Hot Springs area resident Charles Emerson "Chuck" Baxter, 85, of Polson died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1997 with family and friends at his side.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Lonepine Hall, followed by burial in the Murray Memorial Cemetery at Lonepine.
Charles was born Oct. 16, 1911, to Zachariah and Maude Baxter at Lyman, Wash. He moved to Hot Springs in 1912.
After completing the eighth grade at Garcon Gulch School, he worked in the area and throughout Montana on sheep ranches. Chuck settled near Hot Springs on his own ranch at the end of the depression years.
Chuck and Lila Florence Robertson were married Aug. 2, 1946. Together, they worked hard to raise their two children, a few strays and to build a successful cattle ranch.
Chuck was a positive example to all who knew him. He treated everyone with respect and was patient with others' faults. His generous nature caused him to do without so others could have what he thought they needed. He worked long days in the woods, without complaining, to supplement the ranch income. His awareness of nature's organization taught respect for the creator.
Chuck will be remembered for his sense of humor and practical jokes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Henry "Hank," Lawrence "Pat," Ira and Herbert; and sisters, Elsie Redekop, Dessie Mcauly, Bertha Whitehead and Sylvia Bowerman.
Survivors include his wife, Lila, of the family home at Polson; two sons, Matt Grimshaw and wife, Riscillah, Manhattan, Mont., and Randy Baxter and wife, Dana, Missoula; a daughter, Glenda Woods, and husband, Ross, Polson; two sisters, Zella Dixon, Clayton, Calif., and Adeline Ippisch, Hot Springs; 11 grandchildren, Heather, Mary Ann, Sara, Daci, Shawna, Jaylyn, Amy, Annie, Colton, Rochelle and Kodi; and three great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Lana and Blake.
Arrangements were by Grogan Funeral Home of Polson.

I'm sorry it took so long to take this photo. I've tried to find someone at the cemetery to help locate graves but it seems they are hardly ever there. At any rate, I went out and walked around until I found it.

Your doing great! Now what about William T Bright's stone Marker? Do you have it on Find A Grave? I searched and found nothing that comes close. I would like to link Roy to his dad.

RE: JAMES WILLARD WHITTEN
I will be glad to add the information, but, for some reason there was no link to the memorial so I'll need to know which cemetery. Also, if you are related and would like me to transfer the memorial I will be happy to do so, just let me know your member number.

It was chilly today, my uncle is at Oakdale. I also went to three other cemeteries today, there were a lot of request and the weather will not be good very long here in Mi.

We looked for all your requests in Fuller, but ony found about half of them. While we didn't walk the whole cemetery we covered it pretty well. Sorry we couldn't locate the others for you.

Did you understand what I said about the location of the headstone? Its located directly to the left of the 'CLARK' mausoleum that is in the middle of the photo of the cemetery. Look in the lower left side of the cemetery photo and it is inside the upright of the left side of the sign. In the cemetery photo there is an American flag in front of the headstone.

My pleasure. I found them a long time ago, but the request was "claimed", so had to wait until it expired. Glad you are happy!
