Michael Shackelford
Dr. Josephus Shackelford
I submitted Dr. Shackelford to Find A Grave for "famous" consideration after tweaking the bio a bit and adding a couple of photos. I reached the limit on photos as I was going to add one more.

I have not received any communication from Find A Grave but now notice that the memorial is no longer in my care and only lists you as the original creator of the memorial. I do not see anything that indicates he is considered "famous" or similar. I also can no longer edit anything except for the pictures that I added, not even able to remove the "generic" cemetery picture added by someone else to make room for another portrait photo.

Sometimes I see a "famous" rating for certain memorials, but maybe I don't see that since I submitted it. Well at least we tried, let me know if you see anything I am missing or if you can still edit the memorial or better yet give it a 5-star "famous" rating. ;)

Best regards,

Michael Shackelford

RE: Brook Family at Donald Cemetery
P.S. If it would not be too much of a bother for you we would be very glad to receive copies of the William Jefferson Roberts columns that refer to the Brook family members. My email address is on my "Old Bwana" page. At your convenience, of course.
Also, we had a Confederate Memorial Service in 2008 at Donald Cemetery for two of the Brook brothers and would be glad to email you some of the photos if you would care to see them.
Thanks Again - Old Bwana

RE: Prier Memorials
Thank you for your response to my request.
I am familiar with the edit tab but have had more luck with the public message function and contacting members. I have also previously reviewed the transfer criteria and understand the edict of substantial changes which is one of the 7 listed items. I do respect that you want another member who has placed time and effort into this memorial to manage it, however 2 of the 3 requested transfers are subject to the 4 generation rule which states: If the memorial in question is a direct relative within four generations (siblings, parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents) to you and the original submitter is not direct family, then they must transfer the memorial. Since you have transferred them to another member already this is a moot point. I was unclear as to whether you advised them of my request for their consideration or if i needed to contact them? Either is ok, just let me know.
Also if you ever need a photo or anything else near walker county let me know, I try to fill all the request I can.

Jan Kessel Hardin
Bnjamine F. Young #44785475
Hi, I noticed the info you have on the above person and that some alternate info was added at the bottom of the article. Ben #44785475 was the son of my Uncle Joseph Enoch CLARDY. His mother was an unknown woman whose last name was YOUNG. Joseph was my gr-grandfather's brother and his wife Sallie Hawkins was my other gr-grandpa's sister. As if all of that is not enough, Sallie was not able to have children but Joseph had 4 possible 5 sons with other women and Sallie ended up raising 4 of them. Ben is Benjamin Franklin "Ben" Young and he had a younger brother Arnie Clardy Young. Both boys were raised by my Aunt Sallie while Joseph went his own way. Arney and Ben were always listed in the census as 'boarders' in the family. I don't know how they came to know that Joseph was their Dad but I can imagine they were not proud of it, he was a very black sheep. When Ben was young he was called Jim, so I imagine that is where the 'Jim Young' who was supposed to be his Dad came into the picture. Ben married Etta Hawkins in Lincoln CO., Tn. and they had a son Malcom Elmo Young. Etta died and Ben & Malcom moved to Tx. with Etta's Dad Rufus Hawkins, Sallie's younger brother. After awhile Ben and Malcom returned to the Tn./ Ala. area and had families. Ben married again to Etta William Vaughn and had Ben Lee Young (Grant) 1921-1946, James Pitts Young 1923-1973 and Margaret Eveleen Young (Holt) 1926-2010.
I hope this clears up some of the confusion, by the way Arney Clardy Young also married my grandmother. And yes I can prove all of this.
Thanks so much, Jan

Martha E. Orrick Elam, #42112260
Martha was the daughter of James Allen Orrick and Elizabeth Muncey (Muncy) Orrick, my gggrandparents.

She can be found in the Census records of 1880 of Cannon County, TN. She was one of about 10 children.

Do you know if Martha and John had children?

Barbara Smith Dunn
ggranddaughter of Lucy Caroline Orrick Smith of Cannon County (oldest daughter)
