Fanny Massey
Kaye -- I forgot to answer your question. It appears that Fanny(Francis C.,nee Henson) survived her husband, Jeremiah Massie for quite a few years. As a widow she continued to live in the Gibson, IN area with her daughter Lucy Bell Massey, wife of Charles Lynn until at least the 1910 Census. I very much find where she is buried!!

Thanks again, Taffy Walker

RE: Massey/ Massie
Hi Kaye--

Thanks for writing and doing all the work you do.

Of course, I do not want you to do anything to deface the tombstone like chalk it in order to photograph it!

However, the photo on this website was taken with the when the engraved side of the stone was in shadow. When you have time, could you please try to get a photo with the engraving on the sunny side.

I live in California. While it means so much to me to find these remnants of my family's past, I am reluctant to takeover any responsibility for findagrave.com. For one thing, I have never been there in person and would not be able to tell people the things you can, because you have actual access to the cemetery. You deserve endless thanks for you care and photos, and the good job you are doing.

I will leave notes at each gravesite's and hope that family members connect to me -- these grave's seem so lonely in the pictures, but I hope all are souls are reunited in the afterlife.

Thank you, Taffy Walker

I omitted the young son of Jeremiah Massie-- Thomas Massey should be linked to his father. Jeremiah is my 3x great grandfather. William and Thomas Massey are his sons. Jerry's wife, and mother of his children, was Fanny (Francis) C. Massey. Taffy Walker

RE: Porter Drew
Kaye:

I would be happy to put the picture of Jesse Porter Drew on his findagrave memorial page, but I better check with Bobby Drew first. He is the one that sent me the picture, and he said that I could use it on my family tree on ancestry. However, I didn't ask him about findagrave, because I suggested to him that He put it on Jesse's memorial page himself. He found me from the picture I put there of Lillian Della Drew. His father confirmed that the picture is Lillian Della.

I also suggested to Bobby that he get hold of you, as you are clearly related through Bannister Drew. Maybe he didn't do that?

He is a very nice man. He also lives somewhere in Indiana.

I will get back to you, when I hear from him.

Best Wishes,
Robbin

I feel that way too. I'm related only by step-daughter-in-law to the Riddles.
Just think duplicates are not needed, and hate to see the fact that your memorials show they have been there for over 4 years. If you transfer your's to me, the memorialized time since 2008 will stay, I will add the new info and delete my listings.

My ID for transfers is # 47512217

I did not notice a marker for Esther next to Leo. I will check on that later. Either I missed it or it could be in a different part of the cemetery. It was starting to rain and lightning so I decided it was time to go.

I would be very happy to take over John's memoral. Thank you very much.
Yes Millie's given first name is Samilda. My Great Grand Mother spoke very fondly of Sarah, her step mother, her mother Millie died when the kids were all very young.
Thanks

PS I am trying to find the graves of John's other Children, the only one that I have not been able to locate it his daughter Mary Munday that lived and died in Michigan. I remember my Great Grand mother talking about her sister Mary being all crippled up with rheumatoid arthritis.

Thanks so much, all of the Nance's in Pike County are related to me. I have been trying to get to the cemeteries and get the photo's, but since I live in Nashville, TN it is kind of hard to get them. Thanks so much for taking time to photo all the headstones and putting them on Find A Grave.

RE: Jesse Porter Drew
I found this photo amoung some of my Grandmother, Lily Chesnut Hill's old photos, I have had for over 30 plus years. With "findagrave" I decided to try to figure out by the headstone, who was in the picture.

My grandfather, Lewis Aden Hill was born and grew-up in Union, Pike Co. IN. His mother, Mary Ellen Chambers Hill and Grandparents, George & Mary Jane Hornbrook Chambers are buried in the same IOOF Cem in Union with Jesse Porter Drew.

Now, I have on record, but can't find county marriage license, that Lewis Aden's father, William Michael Hill was married for a short time to Lillian Della Drew (like a few months). Lewis's mother, Mary Ellen Chambers Hill, died in 1893. William Michael married Mary Brittingham Ingler in about 1915. He would have been married to Lillian sometime inbetween those dates, which is about the time that Jesse Porter died. If I were going to guess, and I am, I think that the picture is Lillian D. Drew at the grave of Jesse P. Drew. I don't think that Jesse was married either, I couldn't find any evidence he was.

At first I thought that he might be a friend of my grandfather, Lewis Aden Hill, but my grandfather was born in 1890, which is quite a bit younger than Jesse.

Please feel free to copy the picture. I am sure that one of your relations or mine probably took the picture, to give to William Michael Hill. IF YOU FIND THE PICTURE IS LILLIAN D. DREW, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I would even be happy to send you the picture, I did crop some of the cemetery scape out.

I think it is interesting how the landscape at the cemetery has changed over the years.

Best Wishes,
