Thank you so much for taking the time to locate and photograph the memorial for me greatly appreciated! Wondering if by chance you saw/photographed his military marker, according to records he has a flat granite marker. Also would like to ask if next time you are at the cemetery if you could photograph a closeup of the photo on his upright marker. Thanks again for all your help, Cheers!

I have added one photo of Eugenia Day grave. The website only allows 750kb pics so I compressed it. The originals I took are 4589kb. I will email the better pics to you if you like. I also took one without the flowers we brought her.
Sadly, the upright stone is missing. You can see where it would have been placed in the slot of the base. The caretakers are wonderful people and were very happy to have Eugenia's information for her grave. I gave them a copy of her death record so their records could be updated. (All they had was "Day plot")
If your family would ever like to replace the stone, he said there was a company nearby that made very affordable replacement markers.
Thank you for giving us a reason for spending the morning at a beautiful place we had driven past for almost 25 years and knew nothing about.
My husband went with me and ended up sweeping off every single grave so I could photo them all & build a file for the cemetery caretakers.
Peace be with you,

We are meeting the caretaker this weekend. He is bringing the master list so we can try again to locate this for you.
Sadly, there are several graves with only a rock/stone for a marker with no information. We've driven past this place for almost 25 years. It is one of the best kept cemetery's I've ever seen.

I searched Jasper School Cem yesterday but, couldn't locate this grave. I will call the caretakers today to see if they have more info. I did a little more online searching and found her birth to be Dec 20th, 1872. She was a student at Forest Mills. Dec 23rd, 1884 was also mentioned...possibly when she located to Carthage or entered Forest Mills?

You are wonderful. I retired a year and a half ago. I've been attending genealogy meetings here in Athens. I'm a novice but have found my niche. I want to do here what you are doing there. Our ancestors were such strong people. Those little bits in the paper give insight into their lives. There is absolutely no hurry. I just appreciate whatever you do. Jane

Do you actually have obits that go back that far?
That is exciting. My husband is William Augustus Ayres. He was named for his grandfather Dr. Ayres. His dad was John Smith Ayres and so was his brother who was hit by a car and died when he was almost 5 years old. In 1978 my husband, his brother Joe Robbins Ayres, and his sister, Sally Jane Ayres, named for Sally Jane Ayres Ferrell went to Miss. A very old gentleman at the time either took them to the cemetery or showed them how to get there. Apparently, many of the tombstones were down at that time. No one thought to take pictures. Our oldest son is also William Augustus and our youngest Samuel. Our daughter is Mary. They were so excited to see that they had names that had been in the family for generations. I tease my husband that I know more about the family than he does. Dr. Ayres moved to Frankston, Texas sometime after 1880. All of his children were born in Texas. We live in Athens, Texas about 25 miles from Frankston. Ayres, Ferrells, Woffords, Spencers, and others are buried in Athens and Frankston. Thank you for such a fast response. Jane Ayres

Hi Janet! Just wanted to thank you for all the hard work you do and let you know that we all appreciate you taking pictures and adding any information you find to their grave profile.
By the way, my family has 2 Dawson Days in it from North Carolina/Mississippi. You think we're related or maybe just coincidence? :)
