RE: Lathrop
Without a first name, I have no idea who you are referring to. However I find that your attitude is one that actually discourages people to search for the final resting place of their loved ones.

In many cases, even the smallest amount of information can be invaluable for those who are searching for the final resting place of their ancestors and loved ones. As such, ANY clue as to where a linked family member "might be" located can direct those to areas to search, and then, hopefully, to eventually post photo's of headstones (if there are any) or documentation to the "memorials" that have been created. This DOES, in fact, facilitate Find A Grave's "mission" to "'FIND', record and present final disposition information."

I believe those who care enough to take the time to create memorials here actually DO strive for accuracy....even if a final resting place is, to this date, "unknown". I further believe that those who have created memorials with "unknown" final dispositions would be most anxious and grateful to update the memorials with information that can be provided by others. However, the FIRST step would have to be to acknowledge the fact that these individuals even existed. To refuse to link those whose final resting places that are "lost to the ages" or "currently unknown" with their families is, in effect, a denial of their existence.

"Families" are very important to many who come to Find A Grave. I believe that most researchers and family members would rather see a link to an honest "unknown" resting place than a "made up location" or "a guess" that was made simply so that family members could be linked together. A refusal to link relatives together is often a reason why many duplicate memorials are being created. ~~~Twig

How very sad for those family members who will now remain disconnected!

Cropped the portraits a bit tighter for the Colombini memorials. No relationship. Just working my way systematically through the cemetery documenting and linking as many as possible. Try to update info if new resources have become available since the memorials were created.

If you come back for a Clippers game, the stadium is now downtown and the one next to the cemetery has been demolished.

Hi Kenneth,

I did a grave rubbing and on it one can clearly see "Capt. Peter...". Also, I found "Father & Mother..." on the obverse. Just in case you have a particular interest in these people, I thought I'd pass this along.

Cremations are usually spread someplace. I only have 3 or 4 cremations..This is also supposed to be a memorial page..and the son that died in Florida (where they died also) had those remains..They were not buried in a cemetery..that was the whole idea..to save the expense of a cemetery. In this case I do not see the problem..the page asks if burial or cremation..and a place to check it..so the memorial is just that ..a memorial.I do this to get the families connected which is important..thank you for the time.

Kenneth, I talked to "daughter in law" of Sumner and Cora (she is 88) anyway I had been looking for them so I called her and she told me they had both been cremated.. the arrangements were made by her husband (their son- George Work) .He died a few years ago but he probably had the ashes scattered. Then I had been trying to find Betty ..I just wanted all the siblings connected to their parents Cora and Sumner..I would appreciate it..I usually have graves too people that are cremated deserve to have a place with their children.in a virtual memorial. Thanks for any help..

Do you mean a link can not be established when someone is cremated? How do we link her to her parents..?

Would you mind adding it in the bio section then? You can change the year back to where it was.

I made an edit to Walter DeVries's date of birth. His death certificate is one year off from the date on the stone.

So sorry. I missed it. Please link husband and wife' s memorials to save confusion. I will delete mine tomorrow so that you can have time to edit yours with the additional info I added to mine. It will save me having to edit yours with the additional info. Thank you for catching the duplicate.

John W. DeVries - You have his wife's name as "Minnie." His wife's name as shown on the stone was Lulu L. She was my great aunt. Her maiden name was Lulu Louisa Dellert. I am setting up her memorial and will link it to her husband, John.

Thank you.

When I post the photo with their names on it, it will have the block, section, row and grave space numbers on it. But I will also post just the flat concrete base slab with the space number on it as well. I can alway delete it later if necessary. Martha

Then I'm so sorry but there is no stone. He's in the 1A space and she is with him in the 1B space. The only thing there is a concrete slab that has the number 118 to show the grave space. I will be posting a photo of the space with their names superimposed on it soon, just need to label it. How sad. Martha

If his name is Adelino and he died in 1977, then he is buried in the same grave space. If he has a different name, I can look up where he is and then on a future trip look for him. Martha
