Are the birthdates you provided calculated or "known" dates? It might be important to researchers. I will add a note that they are calculated, if they are.

Hello,
I would be happy to fulfill your photo request - would you call the cemetery to get the burial location?
There are over 11,000 graves there and without a location, it is difficult to find your request.
The phone number is 509-926-2753 - and there is no charge to obtain the location contrary to the description on
FindaGrave.
I fulfill requests regularly there and will get you the photo if you can supply the grave location to me. Please email info
to id.morbius@gmail.com.

Thank you

RE: James Vest
Yes, this one was born 1868, died 1888. His memorial is on there, as well. I can transfer him to you so you can link family and maintain it. You are welcome to any I add. I will be adding 2 Shively cemeteries from the same road, so if you have info on James' wife's family, they may be there. Probably add them tomorrow.

Was as exciting for me! If I can do anything else, just let me know. I don't mind at all! As I said before, your excitement makes it all worthwhile!
I have created the cemetery. It is Pearl M Rakes Cemetery, (only cemetery name I could find that referenced it) Ferrum, Franklin County, so you can move him.

Cemetery photo has been added, as well, but waiting to be approved.

Again, let me know if I can help with anything else!

RE: James Vest
Ron, I had some good luck today! I found his stone and his date of death is February 27, 1897. Was exciting to find! The stone hasn't held up very well, which made the photos not very legible, but I was able to read it. There was also a Charles Vest, but most were Shively's. I will add photos to James' memorial and once I get the cemetery added, I will let you know so you can move him there. Glad I could locate him!

RE: James Vest
I am glad to do it! This is the part I like the best! I am sure James had that DOB with the best of intentions, as his info is usually pretty accurate. I have found that date online as well. Hopefully, the cemetery will give us some proof and hopefully I can find it! I am not sure what his connection would be to that area, except that there is a creek called Shively branch, which would make sense given he married a Shively. Anyway, we shall see what turns up! I am excited to see it. I don't know anything about Franklin County so should be interesting to go somewhere new...

RE: James Vest
Ron,
I possibly have some info on a different date of death and maybe the place he is buried. I found same dob with death Feb 1897, buried in Franklin County, which is next to Floyd County. I won't know for sure until I locate the cemetery. I can't find where its been transcribed, but I have a general location on where it is, so I will try to get out there to see if I can find a stone.

Glad to be of any help. I love trying to find something that is important to someone else. Plus, I usually learn quite a bit along the way and have a reason to go see places I have never been!

RE: James Vest Photo Request
That is pretty interesting.. the other James was James Merritt Vest who it appears is his son as well. There are a few books at the library where cemeteries were transcribed back in the 70's and that info isn't online or, if it is, I haven't found it. There are quite a few that have never been added to any of the online archives or databases. With that said, I will check to see if anyone did that cemetery and whether they recorded his burial even being there. I will let you know what I find out.

RE: Paul Pfannenstiel @ Topeka Cemetery
Paul is buried in section 78 lot 364...there is no marker there. The photo which I have posted shows the lots on either side of his and the obvious empty ground. I posted the photo because it does show his final resting place. The photo is looking towards the west.

Thanks for looking up Doran Carter. Parents were Thomas and Caroline Carter of Holden, Mo. I located her parents but not Thomas's. They were John and Mary Carter, formerly of Tn but I think they moved to Mo at some point.

Thank you anyway, Ron. I do understand. I certainly leave it up to the creator/manager of the memorial to make the final call. Thanks for your feedback, and for your discretion.

Raymond L. Vest was born in Virginia, lived in West Virginia for six years and died in Hinton, Summers County, W.Va., according to his obituary. Just thought the photo found in Virginia might be the same.

Thanks for your response.

Find A Grave Memorial# 85688299
A visitor to West Virginia Memories shared a photo: Raymond Vest, found 14 Apr 2013, Mechanicsville Antique Village, Va. I've posted it on my Mystery Photos page -- http://wva.homestead.com/page04.html My question is, do you have any idea if this could be Raymond L. Vest?
