RE: re: Sarah Bilyeu Phillips
Hi Ron, her death certificate gives 1860 as her year of birth, whereas the marker gives 1859. Both the death certificate and the grave marker were created shortly after her death, whereas the 1860 census was recorded when she was just a young girl, about 2 years old, so I think the census is more likely to be accurate. Anything recorded around the actual date of her birth, like a family Bible record, would be the best evidence.

re: Sarah Bilyeu Phillips
Hi, regarding her date of birth, she is recorded as age 2 in the 1860 census and age 12 in the 1870, so I think the 1858 date is probably accurate unless you have something recorded at the time of her birth, such as a Bible record. Many thanks, Amy

Knaus cemetery
Susan Scybert is in the Knaus family cemeterY

you can see the bio I did for her sister but I did not do a bio for Susan because you have management.

1850 census Wm. Sybert parents/siblings
1860 census Scybert, Henry/Susan
1880 Susan is a widow and lives alone

there are only 3 of them on the cemetery list at this time but I am told that there are at least 4-5 more family members out there.

thank you

RE: James Holder Birth Date
Thanks Ron. I noticed that several of the children's dates did not agree with the records, but she was so definite on Her GG Grandfaters exact date. As we both know there is nothing to believe unless it is a birth certificate, or for date of death on death certificates. I never take the birth date from a death certificate. The person giving information is often guessing. I will usually use the date on draft board data because it is given by the person, and signed by them.

Thanks Again,
Bill Holder

RE: James Holder Birth Date
I received this from a direct line relative, Janice Holder Black:

James HOLDER b 19 Oct 1811 in Virginia (County unknown) m Margaret HUMPHREY(S) (b 1814 in VA to John Humphrey & wife) in 1836; they had "13 children" according to my paternal grandfather. He moved to Winchester, Scott Co., IL shortly after marrying, where he was listed as a blacksmith in the 1850 Census. The children of James & Margaret were all born in
Illinois: Mary, b 1837, Matilda, b June 1838, John, b 1839, Martha, b 1840, Alice, b 1843, James b 1844 (d 1877), Eliza b 1846, David William b Oct 22 1846, Sarah b April 1850, Martin b 1852 and Lydia (birth date unknown).

James suffered a stroke before 1880 and was living with adult sons Martin and others in Holden, MO when he died March 15, 1881. Strangely, I have no date on Margaret's death.

I'm trying to find out James' siblings, assume most of them stayed in Virginia

Any info you have would be helpful, Thanks, Janice Holder Black

RE: Vest Family Memorials

Apologies for the delay in response. I took the photo of Ron's memorial while there for a different purpose. Unfortunately I don't have any further information.
Best wishes and have a nice Thanksgiving.

Oran Benton Cannady # 95910948
Eliza J Carter Cannady # 95910924
Shad Cannady is not on Findagrave. I found his name on 3 of his sons death certificates . He is in the 1850 US census the year his father died, in Dallas, Missouri name misspelled as Kenady. Been researching the family for years. Susan C Cannady Lafever was my great grandmother :)

I was excited to see you had memorials for Oran and his mother Eliza Cannady I was wondering if there is a way to find out where his father Shad ( Shadrick? ) was buried and when he died ?

Sarah Batman Watkins DAR information
Hello Ron,
Sarah Ellen Batman Watkins, Memorial #101397123 that you originally created, was my maternal grandmother. My cousin Rebecca Smith, also her grandmother is now managing the site. We want to join DAR, and you noted that the info you put in the memorial was from the DAR records at the Johnson Co Historical Society. I have tried to make a contact with them through Google and Bing with no success. Can you give me a contact so that I can find out the details of that record
Thank you very much for original creating the memorial.

Hi Ron, I approved your edits for the Jackson's in Parsons, but I went ahead and transferred them to you. I think family belongs with family. Now you can edit them and honor them as you wish.
