If you can call Resurrection Cemetery 323 887 2024 and get the location for the graves, I will be happy to take a photo next weekend.

Bathsheba "Hall" Crowell
Are you related to Bathsheba? I was wondering why you have her last name Crowell, when husband Joseph is Crowel?. Her marker shows Crowel. She is my cousin and if you have any information on her and other Crowel or Crowell buried their I would like to have the information so I can make sure I am correct. Thank you and if you want to email me;

Rev. Leo Heinrichs
Greetings, Michael!

And thanks for your message. What a treasure you have in your grandmother's memorial cards! I'm presently unable to add more photos to Father Leo's entry, as it's not in the "Famous" division. I am hoping, however, that the Findagrave Admins will reconsider their decision that he doesn't qualify for "Famous" status. In that case, more images could be allowed, and you could upload them yourself, pending official approval. The fact that special cards were issued in Father Leo's honor speaks to his reknown, so you may want to consider contacting the Admins to re-evaluate the situation as well.

Best regards,

The information concerning his parents was sent to me by a Bruce researcher and I ssumed that information was correct. Since I am not related, I have transferred the memorial to you to make corrections as you see fit.

RE: Adam Smitka

The message from 11/3 was based on a verbal conversation with the staff. The one I just sent you about being 59, I actually saw all the paperwork for that message. So I am assuming that they may have looked up a different person for the 89 year old. On Saturday, I was watching as he was flipping through the paperwork to look for Adam's file. I only saw 1 Adam Smitka file, so I'm not sure were they got the 89 years 8 months from. When you hear back from Berks County, please let me know so I can correct the cemetery file if it needs to be, for you. I plan on going down to the National Archives sometime this month to do some of my own research. I will be happy to look up Adam Smitka to see what information comes up and will pass it on to you.

RE: Adam Smitka

I finally had a chance to talk to the cemetery office about Adam Smitka. They pulled the paperwork for him and the only thing listed was that he passed away at Wernersville State Hospital at age 59. There are no parents mentioned or siblings. The body was claimed by Sacred Heart Church for burial.

Hope this helps you.

hi! i'd take photos of the markers for you, but that cemetery lost most of it's pre-1950 records in a fire. nobody knows the location unless they find it by walking the entire cemetery. i'm currently photographing the other large city-owned cemetery. i know 3 people who are photographing locust hill marker by marker - but i think due to the weather they may have stopped until spring. the information i have for the markers came from old monument company records.

Hi Michael, I checked with the cemetery office and the only info they would give was that he was 89 years and 8 months old and he was from outside of Berks County. Hope this will help you.

Family Additions
Are you a member of the Bruce Family?
If so, I think John M and Elizabeth Barnhill Bruce had a daughter named Elizabeth Bruce that was born in 1828 Jefferson County Ohio. If you look at the 1840 Census for Ohio, Carroll County has a John M Bruce with a daughter that was 10-14 years of age in the household. Elizabeth Bruce married in 1848 in Jefferson County Ohio to a John T Scott. She died before 1869 in Ohio.
