RE: Jason Babcock
Yes, I actually did have to pull the grass off of the stone. It was buried but I could tell there may have been a stone there. Someone else really wanted this pic, too, and when I saw you had a request in for the same pic, I thought that was great! Killed 2 birds with 1 stone, LOL!
I wish I could have dug it out some more but we were actually on vacation and I didn't have anything with me to make the job any easier. Used my hands ;)
I am not from Vt. but the cemetery seems to be pretty well cared for, so maybe someone will fix it up better. I was also afraid of breaking it. I noticed the Reynold's family still lives near the cemetery.

Manuel Madrid DOD Mar 1907
Manuel Madrid was murdered by his teenaged wife Valentina Madrid, 16 and her friend Ala Lyons, 17. They were the first women sentenced to hang for murder in the state of NM.
The prosecutor in the case was the famous Elfego Baca. Though the girls were found guilt and sentenced to hang the people of Hillsboro did not want the girls to hang. Because of public outcry their sentence was commuted to life in prison. The spent many years in prison and were eventually released.
They murdered Mr Madrid with a common rat poison. Valentina was having an affair with a another man, Francisco Baca. The girls alleged that Mr Baca talked the girls into murdering Manuel so Valentina could be with him. Mr Baca was tried separately from the young women. He was found not guilt.
This is an historic case in NM that drew national media attention.
I'm sending you a link to the State Historians sight that talks about this murder.

Photo Requests
Hello Patti,

I did receive your requests and I will see if I can get them, they might be buried though, we just got over 2 feet of snow in the last 2 days. If I can't get to them now, I have the requests saved and will do it in the spring when all this snow melts! I didn't want you to think that I was ignoring your requests.

Re: Charles McKinney
Hi Patti, I'm being nosey. Martha Lee McKinney FGM# 31349273--her husband Charles Arthur McKinney
FGM# 30240923 and their son Milam Lee McKinney FGM# 30240956 are all on the same headstone. Is there a reason why the photo of the headstone is only on Martha's memorial page? If it's just an overlook, could you go ahead and put the headstone on the other two? Thanks wrmcferrin

RE: Re: Photos
The Milam McKinney Family--Milam was my 2nd great uncle. His oldest sister was Eliza Lousia McKinney Franklin--who was my Great-Great Grandmother. Sandy Rubio-Boitel and I have not spoken to each other in a very long time, but she is where I got a lot of info on our McKinney family. She is the one who found William McKinney's parents for those of us who had no idea where to locate them.

RE: Miller and Maynard tombstones
You're welcome. I already had the pictures on my computer. The cemetery is really grown up behind the levee and someone cleaned it up a couple of years ago, took some pictures and gave me a copy.

Heard Family
I see that you posted a picture of Maria Heard Morrish. I own that same picture. She is my Great Grandfather's sister. William Henry Harrison (Tip) Heard is my Great Grandfather.

Are you related to the Heards? If so, then we are also related.

Do you have any desire to exchange information?

I have my tree on Ancestry.com as well as Family Tree Maker on my computer.

Please let me know if you are interested in an exchange.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Re: George E Heard request in Roselawn in Baton Rouge, LA
I have been looking for your George E Heard since the request was made. I have yet to find him. I looked up his obituary and found that some relatives names were Prewitt, Robinson, and Jones. Those names are out there where he should be. There is a Lizzie L Robinson in the same plot location. Now that I know that, I might have better luck at finding him. Do you have or want the obituary?
