George Clifton Hatch
Dear Lora Monsevas, I see that you created the Memorial (# 32954054) for George Clifton Hatch on 16 Jan 2009. George is my Paternal 2nd Great Grandfather. Would you consider transferring Management to me (Contributor # 48648684)? I would sincerely appreciate it, and thank you for your effort in bringing his Memorial to life. John Mack Hatch

Hi, Lori,

My relatives, Sullivan Ross Snyder and his wife Sylvia seem to be buried in 2 different cemeteries--Aberdeen and Seaside. Sullivan's death certificate says 'Seaside". Funny part is there are pictures of headstones in both. Can you figure this out?

Hi- I was out taking pictures and got a nice close up of the this headstone. I have submitted an edit and added another photo. Interesting to see how time changes the condition. Thanks for you work. Peggy

Thank you, Tess Beshara

Becher Family at Hebrew Rest

Carl Becher (Find A Grave Memorial# 21702455) and his wife, Ida Cohen Becher (Find A Grave Memorial# 133929932), are buried at Hebrew Rest Cemetery in Corpus Christi. I am pretty sure Carl's parents are buried there also, as well as a brother, and maybe a sister. I can't find them listed at Hebrew Rest. I have copies of newspaper obituaries that say they were buried in Corpus Christi. One says the Jewish Cemetery in Corpus Christi, another just says Corpus Christi, and a third says Beth El Cemetery in Corpus Christi. Have you seen their graves at Hebrew Rest? I would think they are all buried at the same cemetery.

They are:
Father: Abraham Becher (August 25, 1857 Austria-October 21, 1933 San Antonio, Bexar, Texas)

Mother: Lena Schneiderman Becher (February 3, 1854 Germany-May 6, 1939 San Antonio, Bexar, Texas)

Brother: Harry Becher (January 23, 1886 Texas-July 28, 1966 San Antonio, Bexar, Texas)

Sister: Bertha "Bettie" Becher Keller (October 16, 1896 San Diego, Texas-January 20, 1938)

Thank you so much,
Carolyn Hoelscher

Thanks for your offer to look things up. I heard there was a nice article and other papers donated by Father Michael Howell, about Stanley Osborne Welch. S. O. Welch was my great grandmother's brother. They had another brother, Mark, who (according to Father Howell) died while Stanley was present....and he told the story of being there when his brother died. I do not have a death date for Mark, but he was born in 1866, was on the 1870 and 1880 censuses with his parents in New Orleans, then I can find no records.

Would love to have copies of these papers.

Hi Lora,

I would really appreciate a message from you, please. I would really like to know how you got all this information and can you forward your contacts to me? I just would like to have the same thing done for my mom. This was very touching. I couldn't believe that this was up. My son found it by accident and forwarded the site to me. Please call or contact me. I would love to hear from you.

Lieut. James Wells Welch. U.S. Air Service records will regret the death, in an airplane accident, of 1st Lieut. James Wells Welch at Chanute Field, Illinois, on April 17, 1920. Lieut. Welch recently became a member of the Army and Navy Air Service Association. He enlisted in the military service of the United States on October 8, 1917, and served at the School of Military Aeronautics, Austin, Tex., until December 1, 1917, when he was transferred to Kelly Field for flying training. He was commissioned a 2d Lieutenant A.S., S.R.C., on January 29, 1918, and was transferred to Wilbur Wright Field, Dayton, Ohio, March 20, 1918, where he served as Flying Instructor until August 20, 1918, when he was transferred to Chanute Field for duty as a Stage Commander. He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant A.S.A., September 2, 1918, and appointed officer in Charge of Flying at Chanute Field in December of that year, continuing in that duty until his death, having acted, in addition to his regular duties, as Engineer Officer, Post Exchange Officer and Transportation Officer. re: victims of the 1919 hurricane
Hi, Lora, In order to fully research the death of Mary [Sparks] Hargrove [and other family members] I ordered the book "1919 ~ The Storm. A Narrative and Photographic History." This book includes is a list of 272 identified dead. It's very hard to read when you see the names of entire families that were drowned in the catastrophe. Thanks for writing.

C. W. Snyder
Thank you for responding. I found the death certificate for Rev. G. W. Snyder where it is indicated he is buried in Aberdeen Cemetery. This cemetery is in the old part of Seaside. So, your headstone could be right for someone else. I added my great grandfather under the Aberdeen Cemetery.
There is no need to transfer anything.
Again, thank you. You are doing a great service for families.

I believe this is my family member. His name is George W. Snyder.
Could the "C" be a mistake? Just asking. I know headstones this old can be hard to read.

Thanking you in advance.

Thank you so much for posting this. This is my grandfather, died when my father was just a little boy. I remember going with Daddy to the cemetery and checking on the grave. Vandals used to knock the big Woodmen of the World ball off the top of the memorial.

But I have not been able to remember the name of the cemetery and could not find him until today. It is nice to see the stone is in good condition. Thank you again for posting...

Thank you so much. Can you also check to see if his wife Eudocia Brennan is buried next to him (or any others in that same spot with the Brennan name) and take pictures of their graves. The only one I need the detailed information on, however, is Thomas Brennan. We have traced him back to Ireland but don't have details on his parents' names. My direct email is

Thanks so much.

Ms. Martinez, hope you are well. I was very surprised to have found your photos of the corkills at the New Baview Cemetary. I was under the impression that the stones had gone missing years ago. Can you tell me when you took the photos. I was in Corpus one afternoon, but I could not find the New Baview Cemetary. Thanks so much.
