Joseph Black, Jr.
Taneya,
You have located the grave of Joseph Black Jr. in Anderson County, Tennessee. You show that he had a sibling, John Black, born in 1776.
Would you or a member share with me the source that establishes John Black as the brother of Joseph, Jr

Thank You

Photos replaced
Hi Taneya,
Several years ago, you helped me by posting photos that I took of my family members' graves in Carpenter's Campground Cemetery and posted the list of those names/photos on the Blount Co webpage.
I now see that several people have decided that my photos were not good enough and have added their own above/in addition to mine or, in one case, (#5772304) replaced the photo I took and you added entirely---labeling it a "duplicate." (It was the original---not a duplicate.)
Needless to say, I am hurt and angered by such rude behavior. Is there anything that we can do to stop this from happening?
Sincerely,
Patricia Taylor

Brenda Legate
Samuel Gover headstone
If you get a chance could you help me get some information off of a headstone? You took a photo of a headstone at Oak Hill Cemetery for Samuel Gover (7088872). It looks like the slab in front of the military stone says "... in the __ year of his age", which would give me an indication of how old he was, but I can't read it off the photo. I really appreciate your help!

Thanks for the transfers of the McCollums in Baker's Creek Cemetery. Do you know if there is a contact phone # for the cemetery? Also, do you know anything about the Brown Cemetery there in Blount County that I mentioned in my message? Thanks!

RE: added Charle's wife
Thanks, Taneya. I go to Glenwood cemetery most Saturday mornings to fulfill requests from Findagrave. The office has records of most of the burials, so I was able to find the location pretty easily. I'd be happy to add the picture also to his wife's memorial. Would you do me the favor of putting out a request for it? That way when I post the picture I get credit for it. :-) Thanks!
Ron

Joseph Motley Morehead
Thank you very much for the additional information about Joseph. I've typed out the obituary, and managed to link him to his parents.

The old newspaper articles are really interesting. I hope it's OK for anyone to use those. I could sit all day and read them!!

Sorry for your loss
I found your profile while checking out some photo requests for Greenwood Cemetery in Nashville. I followed the link to your blog and read your touching story about the passing of your grandma. I don't believe in coincidences -- you meeting a "cousin" was a God moment no doubt prompted by your grandma!

John Flack

Hi Taneya,

Please add the following Bio to Moses McKissack III's memorial site:

Moses McKissack III -- architect, early Tennessee State Univeristy (TSU) engineering professor, Nashville community benefactor --

born 1879 in Pulaski, Tennessee as the grandson of a slave -- not formally trained; his grandfather, Moses McKissack I, was known as "a master builder" and passed that skill down to his son (Moses II) who passed it to him --

before the turn of the century was working for a Pulaski architect and was a construction superintendent --

in 1905 moved to Nashville and as his first major project was given the right to build the Vanderbilt University dean of architecture's home which helped establish his reputation across Tennessee as a superior architect regardless of color --

with his younger brother Calvin founded McKissack and McKissack, one of the nation's first Black architectural firms, in 1922 --

built many landmark Nashville residences and buildings, including the Pearl High (now MLK Magnet) School Building and the 1908 Carnegie Library at Fisk (where soon-to-be US President William H. Taft laid the cornerstone).
