RE: Samuel Gunn (d1755) Tombstone
Unfortunatley not. I contacted a gentlemen in Montague that was recommended to me and he said he was going to search out the burial location of Samuel. I have not heard back from him yet. I also sent an e-mail to the lady who sent you the photo and have heard nothing back. I just now posted a message on the Find A Grave contributor's page for any info anyone might have.

Samuel Gunn (d1755) Tombstone
Last fall my wife, daughter and myself walked over Riverside Cemetery 4 times and none of us could locate the tombstone in the photo. I talked to the Sunderland Town clerk who has the plot map and she said that Samuel Gunn is not on it.

Two thoughts come to my mind. Do you have another photo that shows stones that surround the one in your photo? That would help to locate Samuel's stone in your photo.

The other thought that comes to mind is that the photo was taken at a nearby cemetery. Is that possible?

RE: Benjamin and Alice Whitacre portrait
Hi Jimmy,

I'm glad your wife liked the portrait. Unfortunately we don't have one for Rachel, only for her older sister Lutetia Whitacre Shumard, as well as some others on the Shumard side of the family. They are nice things to have and I was glad to be able to share them on findagrave.com.

RE: Glaze Cemetery
I believe that neither exists with tombstones. Research data shared with me by Glaze researchers researching in the 1940s and past indicated that there was a Glaze Family Cemetery and a separate Glaze Cemetery, and possibly another with Glaze family. This was agreed to by a distant relative who grew up in the area. I also spoke with a now deceased relative who tried to find the tombstones back in the 1950s and he stated that they were two separate cemeteries.

However, a findagrave contributor presented evidence that convinced the head people of findagrave to merge the cemeteries online.

I have no knowledge of others buried in these cemeteries, but wish you much luck. It is an uncomfortable feeling not knowing.

Abigal Osgood Gunn
I noticed the memorial to Abigail Osgood Gunn in the Mt Palentine Cemetery. It maybe possible that she is the sister of my great great grandmother Eunice Osgood Woodbury also born in Montague MA. Do you happen to know if there is a connection.

RE: Israel Gunn memorial
My notes for Israel show that his parents are Deacon John Gunn and Hannah (nee Root) Gunn. I loaded these markers from a transcription of the cemetery stones, so I'm not sure of the validity of the relationships.
Would you like John and Hannah's memorials transferred also?

Levi Gunn's Journal
Jimmy,
I am headed to Great Bend, KS for Memorial Day weekend for a cousin's wedding--would it be possible for you send me a scanned copy of one of Levi Gunn's Journal pages, so that I can show some of my Gunn relatives? you menitioned that he talked about an Osgood relative visiting--could I get a scan or transcription of that?
Thanks,
Liz Randolph

RE: Granberry Stones
Hi, Jimmy,
I knew/know there was/is a Glaze Family Cemetery and I thought it was on Findagrave, but I don't see it now. It used to be listed, I thought, in Muscogee County. There was another Glaze Cemetery and that did get merged with Old Bethesda, but the Family one was supposed to remain out there as a stand alone. I'm not sure what happened to it.

Elizabeth Burnham Bourland
Eliza is a ancestor of mine and the mother of Mary Hulen Bourland McLane. Please contact me via email. In particular I seek Eliza's burial location in Bates Co., MO. I was in contact with a friend, Bobbie Jones McLane, years ago regarding this line. Maybe I have info you can use as well.

Yes, but I could not locate the cemetery. I drove back and forth over this area and they have mapped that area off for building new homes. Unless it was deeper in the woods. Any ideas?

f ... for .....s
I have seen them carved that way, but always thought it was just an elongated stylistic "s" - sure raises heck with these programs which do not register "Like" spellings...think I would not copy the stone carving in the spelling of the name, (bad stone spellers sometimes!) just in the "inscription" copy - oh, well, to each his own! Thanks for the come back.

Hi - I see this is your 6th gr. grandmother (memorial # 9070777)...do you know why the contributor has not corrected the name spelling..."Afenath"? She was the daughter of Sarah Beaman & Joseph Sawyer, Sr. -right? Thanks!

Hello - I've looked at the two memorials - and they are showing the correct stones for the info. Also - I didn't submit the photos - someone who is marked as "Unknown" did. I sign my work with Sarah M.

Hope you got what you were looking for. If I need to edit anything else let me know. Thanks, Sarah

Well, we'll see. I have not driven over there again, yet, to see if I can access the cemetery from a different point. I'll let you know when I go there and what I find. I'm hopeful. Linda

Hi, Jimmy, for the rest of the story on George, I have posted it at his memorial. The link above you should be able to copy & paste. Do you want me to transfer those Granberry memorials that I created to you? Linda

RE: Glaze Cemetery - Information
According to the book of gravesites, it states: "Old Original Bethesda Baptist Cemetery, Harris County, Georgia. Location: Near Ellerslie, Ga. Off Ga. 315 East about one mile south of 315E on top of a hill. Copied 10 Mar 1986 by June and Lewis Hanna. To get there: Start at US Hwy 27 at 315 East and go east for two miles. Turn right onto a direct road; continue on for a mile and turn right - stop your car, get out and walk rest of the way up the hill. Cemetery is on both sides of the road here." It then describes the various plots/lots including barbed wire, fences, stones, sinks (holes). When I checked with the new Bethesda Baptist church, the pastor told me where to go. Where one turns right off of 315E is McKee Road. A subdivision has been developed there with the exception of the land that would contain the cemetery. I need to drive back there to see if I can locate it from a different angle (top of the hill, instead of the bottom of the hill). In the Harris County Book, it just says "East of Midland, GA, Harris County. There is another "Glaze Cemetery" listed in Midland, but Midland is in Muscogee County. I need to see if I can find that to make sure it is not a duplicate listing. linda

Glaze Cemetery - Information
I went to our library today and checked records on Harris county. I found a small paragraph about the Glaze Cemetery and its link to the Old Bethesda Baptist Church. Check out the cemetery as I have added several records which includes Silas Granberry.

I also found the book on the "History of Harris County" and I pulled some info from that. I don't know what you've got, but if you've not seen this book, I can provide you with more information. Let me know, please. Linda
