Hi, I am doing some research on William Renney. Is this your family. It looks like this must be the case with the information you have on his page. I am wondering, as I have been research him and wonder what information we could exchange.

RE: Reissmann
Well, thank you very much for your work. I did a lot of family research back around 2003, until I got as far as I could at the time. On the German side of my ancestry, that wasn't very far, since my grandparents were all immigrants. While they died in the US, and I am very familiar with this gravesite, planting flowers there every spring, I had not had any information on my great-grandmother's parents until I saw this death certificate. And it is on Family Search now, as well. It isn't often I get to thank the people who have done the recording for these helpful sites. So thank you very much. Please know that your work is appreciated.

I am new to this website, and discovered this week that you posted death information on my great-grandmother, Margaretha Reissmann, buried at Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence, Mass. I am wondering how you came by that information. It is accurate. Were you researching this family? Are you related?

I called the Sexton at the Holy Cross cemetery and he didn't have Otis listed. But he said that he figured people at the prision were probably cremated and was told that the ashes were thrown into the Dead River since that is right at that edge of cemetery. But that was what he was told, it could be just hear say. Nothing documented.
Also, he said that there is another cemetery in Escanaba, MI that is called Holy Cross. So he might be there, by chance. Thats about 50 miles, give or take South of here.

Otis Newel
Hello Jill,

The man that was murdered at the prison,(memorial #1000722408) got me wondering if there really was a cemetry up there.
One of my friends son works as a prison guard at that prison and I asked him. He is not aware of one, and if there was the bodies were probably removed to another cemetery with in time. He said there is alot of history, stories, at that prison and that there is only a very few old timers living that worked there. He doesn't think there is much documented. But maybe if I work at it, I will find something.
Was Otis Newel a gangster, as I heard they were shipped up to this prison from the Detroit area as this place then, was very remote.
I didn't claim this as I'm not sure if I will be able to retrieve where he is laid to rest. So if someone else claims this and finds it, thats okay by me. Be a learning experience for me in the end.

Hi ~ I just posted a photo for Fay Herring Webster in Logan Park Cemetery in Sioux City (and a Robert Webster buried next to her)and wondered if you know of a Maude 1887-1921? The stone was next to Fay & Robert, but no last name, so wondered if she may be a Herring or Webster. Her stone is the same color/lettering as theirs. Any idea who she is?

RE: John C McCormick
Your Welcome!

I will also be visiting the cemetery to photograph the stones (someone who has been there recently told me they couldn't find them) and possibly charting and documenting the unmarked graves as well as the three marked ones.

Thanks again!

Added photos to her memorial. Also made a memorial for her son, Clarence, who is buried with her (didn't see Arthur's stone, but may have missed it). If you'd like a transfer of Clarence's memorial, just let me know, and I will do it as soon as I can.

Take care!

John Hutchison, Jr @ Woodmere in Detroit
I added a photo to his page. Sorry about the blurry close-up--it was not a good day to be taking pictures (very foggy), and I haven't been back there graving since the weather turned. Only reason I stopped to get this photo was that I thought I had photographed this one before, but noticed that John's wife Gertrude had passed. Turns out that I hadn't photographed this one. There's also two people named Leuffen on the monument. I'll make pages for Gertrude, and the Leuffens, an if you want them transferred, just let me know, and I'll do it as soon as I can.

Take care,
