Hello! I am about to fulfill your photo request but unfortunately, it is a photo of the area, only. There is no marker. Her grave is a few rows from the road, and there is a Clarence Green buried right next to the road. Maybe he is related?

I am sorry this was not a more positive outcome. I am always disappointed when there is no marker.

Best regards,

Lawrence Madrid Figueroa

Thank you for sending the bio for Lawrence (Lorenzo). I have added it to his memorial, however, I deleted your sentence about it being the it "being the worst disaster in the state of Utah at that time", as it was incorrect. There had already been two disasters in Carbon County with a far greater number of victims (the Winter Quarters mine disaster at Scofield , May 1, 1900 killed at least 200 miners, some put the death rate as high as 246 & the Castle Gate Mine Disaster on March 8, 1924 killed 171 miners plus one of the rescuers).

I also added his death certificate and funeral notice.

Thanks again for your help,

I found the gravestone for Stephen Aguirre and uploaded the photo. Some of the letters are gone, but there was enough there to tell who it was by the remaining letters and the dates. Memorial#112599755

I think that the body was put in the receiving vault temporarily until it was buried in the grave. Do you have the number for Stephen E. Aguirre? It is # 104550044. I asked them to make a link to his father.

I was taking pictures at Concordia cemetery today. I haven't found Stephen Aguirre yet, but I'll keep looking. I read in some obituaries that the body was put in the receiving vault, so I looked it up. Here's what it said - " A receiving vault was an underground crypt or above-ground building built within a cemetery, with the purpose of storing the bodies of deceased persons in winter months when the ground is too frozen to dig a permanent grave." Also, the Masonic section of the cemetery, was a section that I believe was purchased by the Masonic Lodge as a place to bury members of that organization, which was very active in the community at that time. I found another reference to Stephen M. Aguirre at this website:
It says he was the postmaster for Fabens in 1914. Do you think that was him?

Thanks so much for the information about Stephen Aguirre. I have added it to the memorial. I plan to go to Concordia soon to hopefully find his grave and get a photo. I got his name from a database of Concordia burials in the Masonic Section.

RE: Jose Madrid
You are most welcome. It took a bit of time to find the grave, as there are no records of the burials there and the cemetery is quite a hodge-podge.

I was curious also about the wood cross marker. Jose was buried in 1961, but that cross is not fifty some years old. Someone other than the church/cemetery must be maintaining the grave site for him.

You are welcome - did you see I added Olivia? The figureine at the bottom of her stone was placed there by an unknown person. The sun was starting to set and their stone was shadowed by a tree.

RE: Kersey Cemetery
Ratcliff is sort of nearby. There is a map for the cemetery on the Kersey Cemetery page here on findagrave.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will see it. Kersey Cemetery is on County Road 62 which intersects with Hwy. 23. I think Logan and Franklin seem to blend together around that area. But coming from the cemetery going south on Hwy 23, you don't enter Logan for about 5 or 6 miles.

Leo Araujo
Aguirre, I went out to the cemetery and could not find Leo's marker at the location listed on his memorial. I called and spoke with the cemetery afterwards and they have no records for a Leo or Joseph Araujo. I also looked and could not find him in the national database.
