Thanks for the kind words.

I wrote a bio on him for the Historical Commission for the Georgia Baptist Conventino back in October of last year.

Thanks again,

Their suggestion:
The headstone shown in the profile is for Comer Myron Hester Jr, not Sr. His father, listed on Find A Grave as simply Comer Hester is buried in Louisiana.

I make memorials according to what is on the stone. Can you provide documentation or call the cemetery to confirm?

RE: Link for Sarah Moore

Eunice's (Find A Grave#51584611) Texas Death Certificate shows she was buried at Evergreen Cemetery. I have never been to the cemetery. You should check with the cemetery office(?).

In the future any links you would like to establish, you should geve the full names and Find A Grave memorial numbers.

John, thank you so much for this wonderful photo. With your permission I would like to add it to my tree? Strictly for memorial purposes. I'll credit you, of course. Thanks, again.

RE: Charles and Mary Abbott
I was happy to do that for you. You had mentioned another Abbott who might be buried near them, but they were the only ones in that plot. On the cemetery database there is another Abbot that is listed, without a location, but it also says that grave is not marked. You can see his information with this link. Hope this helps.

RE: Glendale Cemetery
Hi John,

I tried to email you but it was rejected by aol, they said because of your settings about who or where you will receive mail from. I would definitely like to use your map of the cemetery. I had planned on going over there on Thursday and just look for what I could find. If it would be convenient for you I could drop by your place tomorrow afternoon or evening and get the map. You can email me at and let me know.

RE: Gurley Newman headstone
The downside of taking pictures for Find A Grave is I often wonder how the individuals died. You stated Gurley had a tragic death. I would love learn the story.

RE: Adolph Roesler
Sorry, the pics are not any better, but the plot is in serious need of some major cleanup. I could not get as close as I needed to, to get a good shot.

Thank you for taking the picture of the stone. I forgot to confirm that the grave was marked when I called the cemetery. Glad there was something there.

RE: 6249268 Elizabeth Goggan Mahan
Thanks John. What county in Alabama were they married?

I'm looking for a James Mahan who would have been either the son of Thomas Mahan, Hezekiah Mahan or another brother of theirs. That James Mahan married a Bettie Black. Do you have that person in your tree?

Yale St. Clair
6249268 Elizabeth Goggan Mahan

The 1860 census says she was born in S. Carolina as well as the Biographies & Historical Memoirs of Southern Arkansas:

Dr. John M. Mahan is one of the leading medical practitioners of Ouachita County, and has been in the active practice of his profession at Bearden, since 1886. He was born in Dallas County, Arkansas in 1851, and is a son of David and Elizabeth (Goggins) Mahan, who were born in Kentucky and South Carolina, respectively, but their marriage took place in Alabama. In 1851 they came to Dallas County, Arkansas and in 1870 settled in Franklin County, where Mr. Mahan died in 1880, aged seventy-two years, his wife dying in 1876, at the age of sixty-two.
