Thanks so much for posting a photograph of this fabulous gravestone for Samuel Shackford. Request permission to use a copy of this great photograph of Samuel's gravestone in a future article about Samuel to be published at the Shackford Family History blog at these sites.
I always give recognition to the great folks who allow me to use their photographs in the articles I write.
Also I believe that Samuel and Sylvia had a few more children who I'll be researching a bit more in preparation for a future article which may be based on his pension records.

I think the connection to those Boulware may be farther back. I have found the Boulware name in Virginia; they are well documented. Our ancestor, Alben Boulware, moved from VA to SC and I believe that he Boulware's out at Boulware Walls are cousins of his. I have never been there, but I have heard that it is in the Ridgeway area of Fairfield Co., not far from Lake Wateree.

|lindsaytrips||RE: Davis J. Boulware|
I would almost guarantee that your great great grandfather was Davis J. Boulware. On Davis' WW1 Draft Cards, it shows him as Davis John Boulware, born December 9, 1886. This is the same date on the tombstone at Cool Branch. However, his death certificate says that his name is Davis Jefferson Boulware. Without knowing who supplied that information, its possible that someone may have assumed that the "J" stood for Jefferson, which was his father's name. I'm sure that Frances was your great grandfather's wife. Do you happen to know their relation to the Boulwares at "Boulware Walls" ? Being a descendant of the Boulwares of Cool Branch, I have never been able to relate the two families. Hope this helps.

Just want to make sure you 'young' guys out there keep on your toes.......LOL, I'm kidding!!
As a researcher of my family ancestry and history, I truly depend on FindAGrave and 'you' Roland, and all the other guy's and gal's out there doing this type of work, and recording of Headstone's and Surname's, and it's wonderful for us as researcher's, to be able to look up and make a connection of the Pedigree's of the past family member's and loved one's. Not only do you make the effort to get the job done, but you also take great photo's as well, whether it's in the Cold of Winter or the Heat of Summer, I take my hat off to everyone of you out there, Great Job Done!
