Pettit photo requests at Laurel Land Cemetery
Hi, the volunteers would be happy to fill your photo request however we will need a burial location to do so.
Can you please contact Laurel Land and get a burial location for your request? The number is 214 371 1336

or the email link is:

There are over 420 photo requests currently and the volunteers cannot ask for that many locations to fill requests. With a location, your request will get filled pretty quickly. Thanks for your help!

Hi Charlene, Long time since I've had time to check out Find A Grave.... Noticed that you added
Altha Amanda Howerton Vaught.
You mentioned that her great great grandson Dale E. Vaught wrote a book "The Journal of the Thomas Judson Vaught Family" Are you in touch with this gentleman? Would love to read the book, do you know how to get a copy?
Also, I don't know if it is ok for me to copy your information you put on Find a Grave and add it to the for Altha. It is interesting to read the information you always find to add to the site. It should be added to Ancestry also.
May I have permission to do this from other sites also.
Take care, love you. Susie

Adam Cron
I just noticed, the only Adam I found died in 1937, so I only posted the overview of the area to the one you requested.

hi! I went to Crown Hill today and posted the photo of Mr. Cron's headstone. There were lots of other Cron's nearby and I took pictures of - if you want any of them uploaded let me know. They are: Caroline, Sophie, Simeon Hale, Mario, Infant, another Caroline, Charlie, and Louisa. Just let me know. Thanks.

RE: Daniel E. Coe

I submitted the text to John Anderson. He should make the update soon. This side of the marker has the information for Rebecca Coe at the top, and then Daniel's information at the bottom. It says:

Daniel E. Coe
Born Nov 11, 1824
Died Jan'y 6, 1825

The other sides of the marker are all posted to their memorials. They were for Rebecca, Rev. H, Elizabeth, and Henry Coe.

I hope this is helpful.

RE: Horn Hill Cemetery Family Gravemarkers.
Well you would have had them today, but my camera broke. I did uncover the Stewart family. And even more.

RE: William Cater
I enjoyed doing a little work on the Cater family. There are quite a few buried in the Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma.

Sorry I did not stick around any longer than I had to. Maybe in the spring some one will cut all the grass and poision ivy. I really do not under stand, you can see silk flowers down in the tall grass on a number of graves.

I guess I should have checked Edna French's memorial before suggesting you post her picture. You were one step ahead of me.

Thanks for posting the wonderful picture.

RE: Edna Bradstreet French

I am the family historian and have spent years documenting the many branches of our family tree. Edna B. French is a member of my sister-in-law's extended Bradstreet family from Connecticut. Edna's parents were Joseph R. French and Mary Amanda Bradstreet French. I wonder how the photograph ended up in Texas? Edna and her parents are all buried in the Bradstreet family cemetery in Thomaston, CT.

As you noted I have done a lot of work on Find A Grave. If I know a burial location for an individual I will put them on Find A Grave in hopes other family members will one day find the memorial. Would it be possible for you to scan the photo and place a copy on her memorial page? That would be wonderful.

From reading your Find A Grave bio we have much in common. I go out and photo document entire cemeteries and post the result on Find A Grave in hopes family members will find the memorials. So far, it has been very rewarding from all the notes I have received.

Thank you so much for contacting me.

103338322 is her father, Alexander Clay, so if you would link her to him, that's what I'll ask. You are so very sweet!

Catherine or "Kate" as we talk about her, was my g-grandmother's sister Her findagrave number is 84922318. If she is not a family member of yours, would you mind terribly transferring her to me? My number is 47986564. I am trying to link all of the children to their parents plus am in the process of researching more on the land grants etc. Big job but so enjoyable!

Thank you,

Tricia Potter

I saw that you left a virtual flower on my father's memorial in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Hart Co., KY. Then, I saw that you manage several "Slayton" memorials in Texas. Are you related to the Slayton clan? Do you have information that connects and documents the Slayton's in the Hart/LaRue Co area of KY to those in Texas? Are we cousins?-Charles L. Slayton

Dear Cousin Charlene,

So good to meet another member of the family. I wish I had a photo of John Garnett Slaton, but I don't. I expect you are looking at the photo I have on his wife's memorial, Louisa Jane Bennett Slaton.

She is the person seated on the right. Seated on the left is her son Andrew Marshall Slaton. Standing behind them is Andrew's son Jesse Lee Slaton (my grandfather) and the baby is Jesse's first son, John Raymond Slaton (my uncle). So this is a 4 generation photo.

You certainly may use the photo if you wish.

Hi Charlene, great to hear from you. I will look thru papers I have, but don't believe I have any obituary notices for Aunt Evelyn.
Hope all is well with you and Elbert. Busy here with the holidays coming up. Will have Howard & Mary here for Thanksgiving and then will go to the desert for couple days. We really enjoyed seeing you on our trip. Love Susie

Hello Charlene, I noticed that you left a note on my Grandfathers memorial #29044235. I just found him last week and I am waiting for this to be transferred. Are you related to him, thus the note? I am very new at this (just started last week) so if you have any information, please share. I found a letter Floyd wrote from prison(Snipe, TX) on Mothers Day 1935 to his mother (my GGMother- Mrs William (Fannie) Seay, so I am fairly confident this is my grandfather's gravesite. Thank you for any information.==Debra Seay
