Walker Norvell
Thank you for creating the memorial and for linking it to his parents. His father, Col Stephens Thompson Norvell, was my Great Uncle, a decorated veteran of the Civil War and with Teddy Roosevelt at San Juan Hill. All the best

RE: Collins Cemetery
Yes I can and will be glad to tell you how to get to Collins Cemetery.
Take Hwy. 22 east of Ponchatoula,La.about5-6 miles.
Cross the 3 bridges (one being the Tangipahoa River Bridge).
You will see a huge new sub-division on the right.
Take the next right (Lees Landing Rd.).There is what's left of Edward's Saw Mill across from this road.
Go about1/2 to 3/4 mile.
Take a right on Collins Cemetery Rd.
The cemetery is at the very end of that road.
GOD Bless.

RE: Levi Uriah Vining
Yes, we are related! We are both descended from Jeptha Vining born 1738. You are descended through Jeptha' son Uriah and I am descended through his son Thomas. I just recently made the trip to NC and followed Jeptha's wonderings through NC, SC and then GA. Please email me at and I will give you more info and more close living connections descended through Uriah and some places to go on FB.

RE: Theresia Schum
German inscriptions are very common on older grave stones in this area.

It says Hier Ruht which means here rests
Theresia Schum or something like that
Geb. 3 Sep 1841 Geb. is Geboren= born
Gestorben = died

Usually Gestorben is abbreviated Gest.

I can't read German, but after seeing a lot of these basic inscriptions you pick it up.

Hope this helps.

Today I took the pic for Mary. There is not a headstone there yet, only the Funeral Home marker.

I am in the process of photographing every headstone and so far I have one section left to do. Maybe she is there! I will be there in a couple of days...most probably Monday because it is to rain again on Tuesday. The grounds are really mushy with all this rain! It is hampering our endeavors! lol

RE: Roy Vaught in Sterling, OK
The Wright Family were my dad's cousins, and when tracking Oklahoma Braly's and Wright's I found several that were not linked, so suggested to managers they be linked. Hope this long winter is soon over and I can can go cemetery-hopping again!

You're welcome. Thanks very much for finding this stone and adding his memorial. He had been "missing" for quite a while.
Best regards,

RE: Fernandez
Thank you I appreciate it; I wished you could have known them both. They shared a very rich Air Force history together he was a pilot and she was in Hawaii during the war and he fought as a gorilla fighter in the Philippines and had a price on his head; she didn't know if he were dead or alive for a very long time until he appeared back in Hawaii toward the end of the war...Their life together would have very much been a great movie. Thank You again :)
I am updating both their histories

RE: Re: additional info on Joseph Whiting
I did a brief check before sending the info to you and did not find Ben Whiting either. The Dorris P. Crone Whiting you found certainly looks like it could be Joseph's mother, but I have nothing shown on the funeral ledger I'm working from connecting her to Iowa. Definitely could be - I just can't confirm it.

Thanks for adding the info for Joseph so promptly.
