RE: Concerning Mrs. Howard
Noticed you were working on Louisa Howard awhile back. Are you by chance related? She was my grandfathers sister.

Edith Eloise Huss
I believe that Edith # 33365736 is a sibling of Merle Emerson Huss # 32246995. His obit mentions that he has a sister living in California. Edith Eloise Huss's California Death Index has birth date as 11 Feb 1906 and birth place as Kansas. Death place is Riverside and her mother is listed as Ferroll, which is also Merle's mother. 1940 census has Merle divorced with 2 children. The 1930 census has his wife listed as Bessie.
Do you have anything else that would help clarify this information. Thanks for all you have done.

Raymond F. Segrist (1898-1981)
I am requesting clarification. I found Raymond's SSDI (in ancestry.com) which ends in 5907 but gives his DOB as 19 May 1898. Also, I do not find a specific day in Jan 1981 for his death, but many private family trees list 25 Jan 1981. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Truman

Nice to hear from you again. My manuscript is currently with a second publisher for their consideration (Cluster Publications in South Africa- UKZN Press already declined). Two university professors are reviewing it and they have been taking their time. I am anxiously checking my email every morning.

Is your email still correct? The last time I tried to contact you concerning some updates or corrections to the Rood family tree you manage on Ancestry.com I got an error.

Hope you are well.

Teacher Terry
Bucks Grove Cemetery work
Hello,

My grandmother's sister, Cloa Bateman is buried in Bucks Grove cemetery. I very much appreciate the work you have done in Find a Grave. I would really like to know if John Bateman, father of Mary Esther Bateman Schilling is the brother of my great grandfather Robert Winfield Bateman, Cloa's father. I thought you might be a Schilling descendent because you included so much information about them. Both Robert and John lived in the same general area from about 1880 until Robert moved his family to Oklahoma in about 1891. I will be grateful for any help you can provide.

Sincerely, Terry Hubbard Stahl, retired history teacher from the Seaman School District in Topeka, KS

Kroth Cemetery
Hello - I'm working on a project to add maps to all Kansas cemeteries at Findagrave. Can you provide driving directions or GPS coordinates to the Kroth Cemetery?
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=2416858

I do see that it is east & south of the Bucks Grove Church, on C Road, but I don't spot it using satellite images.

Thanks!
~ Chris

RE: Linking Andrick family
Hi Truman, I have seen the great work you are doing on Kansas genealogy. I have learned a lot from some of your info. Anna Andrick Segrist was my great-grandfather's sister. I have researched her and her husband since 1983.

Sadly, I cannot tell you where Anna was buried except in Louisiana. She lived with Anna and Samuel Segrist, and they had either moved or were visiting Lake Arthur, Louisiana. She died there in 1890. I have a typewritten obit for her and recently was given a copy of a letter a man wrote to his family saying that Anna had died.

There was a cemetery in Lake Arthur that was on the river. Due to continual flooding, all graves disappeared. Lake Arthur was only a year or so old, so the present cemetery had not been started. I am surmising that Anna was buried in the cemetery that washed away, but I have absolutely no proof. I searched other cemeteries in neighboring parishes, as have countless other Andrick descendants, but no avail.

Samuel and Anna decided not to stay in Lake Arthur even though they had built a home and had bought probably 10 parcels of land. They did go back and visit their family there (her sister and family and one of their sons)and always stayed in their home. The home still stands and is known as the Fitzgerald Home.

Thanks for writing, it was great to hear from you.

Carolyn

Anna Jane Marts
Hi Truman

I thank you for all the work you do on Find A Grave.
And I think you are right about the inscription on Anna Jane Marts' gravestone, Daughter of W A & M A Marts.
I believe she is the daughter of William and his first wife Mary Ann Law. Mary Ann Died April 5, 1881, Willam married Cloa in 1882.

Thanks again for all the info
