Thank you so much for adding those lovely photo's of Thomas and his 4 generations. I truly do appreciate them. I have lived in Williams Lake, British Columbia for the past 46 years but grew up in Indiana and Thomas was my Granduncle.

Lenora Hotham
Hi Twyla,

Hope this is the right stone. The names seem to fit, but there appears to be a vast difference in their age? Does that sound right? It didn't help that Lenora's DOB and DOD weren't engraved on the stone. Monticello is a small town; chances of there being 2 couples with these names are pretty slim.

And thank you so much for the work you do on Find a Grave. You and others have been a big help finding my ancestors who did not leave much of a trail!

Tracy Howard
Charles Eaton and Sarah Hunt
In Find A Grave Memorial  #25842857, I believe that Charles and Sarah were NOT married in Kentucky, since Sarah Hunt's family arrived in Sullivan County, Indiana, in 1816.  I doubt that Sarah went back to Kentucky in order to marry Charles.  I will check for a marriage record in Indiana and then send it to you.

Grace Vincent Evans
Good morning and THANK YOU for your work on FindAGrave! I know it takes time but it is very appreciated by me and others.

In the 1930, Dunkirk, Jay County, Indiana Federal Census, we find Grace Vincent Evans living with her parents. She has her son Raymond EVANS living with her and indicates that she is widowed. She is shown as working for the Glass Factory as a "Polish Mold."

Her Evans husband is William Raymond Evans who is buried in the Strong Cemetery. According to the 1900 Census, he was born in 1886 but who knows? I'll look in the WWI Draft Cards and see if he has one there.

Many thanks and blessings to you.,

Margaret Jackson Currie

Hello Twyla,
What do you think about this algorithm on getting the birth date for her:(Find A Grave Memorial# 37324874)

From Monday, May 9, 1836 (Gregorian calendar)
Subtracted 87 years, 6 months, 22 days
Result: Monday, October 17, 1748
(Julian calendar)If the smaller units (days) are subtracted before the larger units (months/years).

Alternative result: Tuesday, October 18, 1748
If the larger units (months/years) are subtracted first, then the rest.

RE: Regarding Ruth Hornbaker Black
I have so been out of touch, and glad I did not go thru and click delete delete delete like I wanted to.
With family issues, health issues and financial issues, I have so lost touch with my love of the ancestry.
I am very interested in any info on Ruth. Since it has only been almost 2 years. It may be a nother month or so before I can subscribe back into and find my trees. Ruth is a direct relative. And so glad that you have responded to me.

RE: Inquary
Hello, Yes Twyla I do help people "free" on research look ups. I did go ahead and try to find your man but he is a toughy. I found him in the 1900 Webster Co., KY Census-Dixon Twp.-District 1 July 5, 1900 Sheet 17A Fam# 316/329age 20 with what appears to be his father Bartlett A. age 47 & Step mom Kate"(Catherine Yates)age 35. Catherine died 8 March 1927 Wedster Co., KY & according to her death Certificate her hubby was "Bud" Parrish. My advice is to purchase Sol Parish Death Certificate d: 12 July, 1958 Wedster Co., KY Vol. 034 Certificate # 16511 age 79. Bartlett must be going by another name in the Census holdings. Also Sol's son, Starlin E. Parrish(Starlin Everett-Find a grave listing in Webster, KY) dc Died 28 Jan 1969 Webster Co., KY age 63 Vol. 005 Certificate # 02034 if want to order that. His SS# 406-16-1322. Everybody just seems to disappear from the Census so I am guessing they are using other names. I do need a few obituaries from Vigo so I will e-mail you with that later when I have more time.Barb

Sugar Grove
yes Twyla, it is Sugar Grove, Illinois, Edgar Co, Kidley (town). Make sure you punch Ill. I kept doing that too because it just seems like it is in Indiana. My daughter lived out that way and to her house coming from St. Bernice, you are in Ind, then into Ill. and back to Indiana on that country road. Crazy!!! Thanks for moving your people, geraldine

RE: Claire Shanks Shields
I know what the stone says and believe me it confused me too.
I believe I made a mortal genealogical sin - I made an assumption.
I re-pulled census records and here is what I found - 5 who are in the grave together are family; William, Rosanna, Clifford, Claire and Alma.
I found that the 1900, 1910, and 1920 census shows that Rosanna and William were husband and wife and Clifford, Claire and Alma were their children and siblings to each other.
I am sorry, if it were I who suggested to you that Alma was the daughter of Clifford and Claire and that Clifford and Claire were married, that I was wrong.
Thanks for taking the time to question me about the Shanks Shields of Claire's name; You are correct, it is correct on the stone.
All the best ~ Gail
