RE: Mary Lou Matré
Sorry for the delay. Frankly, Mari Lou has never responded to me. I was a kid when I last saw her. The family is quite spread out and not very close.

I believe she lives in Idaho now. If you write to me personally, I'll give you her email address (which may be old).

Lindbergh pictures
I have a bunch of Lindbergh pictures that no one else has. I plan to make the pictures into a book, but was curious as to what you are doing with your possible book.

So sorry I did respond back, just didn't see it. The photo that I posted was given to me years ago by someone else. One of my east coast friends, They gave me permission to put on Find A Grave but don't remember who. So I would have to decline, but thanks for the offer.

this has turned into a nightmare
no one owns the "rights" to a specific headstone and if someone did? it would be the estate of such person, such as the Mary Kay of the cosmetic empire. anyone can get a copyright, but Mary Kays name and image are a copyrighted issue itself, so the guy saying he has a copyrighted image of her tombstone? id beg to differ for you cannot copyright something you do not own, such as the actual tombstone and any photographs of it. if that were the case, every person who walked into Graceland and then to the Meditation Gardens and snapped photos of Elvis and his family could copyright the photo? Id like to see them try for I have a photo of a sign they have on the property expressing the legality of photos taken on the premises!

if any people on this site took the actual photos of the actual celebrities, and havent sold the rights to that photo then they can give some sort of right to publish. if no one didnt take the photo or even owns the photo, then its not theirs to give any sort of consent to publish or otherwise. most photographic images are becoming more and more copywrited to protect certain images and likenesses. be careful for i have told you all that i can tell. if you take permission from people on this site then its a whole new game for you. but a reputable publisher will not publish any photographs without specific consent.

Photo of Mary Kaye
Hi, Keri,

I just wanted to clarify things about my photo of Mary Kaye's gravesite. You may use my copyrighted photo only after a standard release is signed stating that you will only use the photo for your book. I will, of course, allow you to use the photo at no charge.

Mary Kaye Photo
Hi, Keri,

I'm flattered that you would like to use my photos of Mary Kaye's headstone for your book, and I appreciate that you contacted me rather than just using the photo without permission. I'm not looking for any compensation for the photo; however, I would like to use a standard photographer's release to specify what the photo may be used for. My friend Brad is a professional photographer and I can get a standard release form from him. Please provide me with your email address so that we don't have to use the public forums to communicate.

Thanks, Tim

Hi. The photos in my memorials were taken from internet. I supposed the most of them are copyright-free, by I'm not the owner of the possible copyright, I don't gave you "permission" :) About the photos of the graves, only the family can give you permission, because in Spain, it is forbidden to take photos in the cemeteries (my photos can be deleted if someone of the late famous decide it) IBest regards. Jose

Most of the pics I've posted I've found online are copyright-free, thus my adding them here on Find A Grave; the photo of Mrs. Shand Kidd was one such photo, so I do not know the photographer of it.

Lets try this one more time (my name isnt Dave btw.. Im a girl)
If ANY of the contributors actually own the photos, as in took it themselves and own the rights to that photograph, you then would have permission if they have it to you, but usually pay a fee to the owner. If you DO NOT own a copywrited photograph, such as many are on this website, and the contributors tell you its theirs and its not and you publish it? It can land you in heaps of trouble. And besides, like I said, any reputable publishing house WILL NOT publish any photograph without consent! If you keep this up, continually asking for permissions of photos from people on this site and believe me, your not the first to ask me and not the last Ive denied, you can jeopardize the photos that are on this webiste.

With that said, any photograph on this website that I DO actually own and DO NOT own and that has my moniker by, I do not/will not/cannot give you permssion to print.

Dave Photo
By the way, if no one on this site you have contacted owns the actual picture, such as I have/once did in a few instances, you can be sued if you print without permission. Many of those works are now owned by several photo agencies for the photojournalist either works for the agency or has sold them the rights which in some cases their works are copywrited by the agency, owned by the artist and/or their estate, or in the event of Elvis, his name, image and likeness is owned by Robert F.X. Sillerman.

Just to print these photos your requesting, no publisher will not print them without express written permission and they usually do that and will ask you where you obtained them. Some of the photos I have taken are/were owned by me and I can do what I choose with them, but ones taken while working for an employer, become property of them, which in most cases can be called 'intellectual property'.

Good luck
