RE: Guiseppa Rubano Mastandrea
Hi Mary,
Guiseppa Rubano Mastandrea (Mastrandrea) was married to Barbato Mastrandrea (Bn: 1857 Valle dell'Angelo) (full name was Emiddio Barbato). They had 6 children but only 2 survived, Giuseppe (my grandfather) and Angelo (nicknamed Zust.) Barbato and his brother Angelo (Bn: 1851) stayed in New York, never moved to Chicago I have seen your relatives names while researching. I think the relationship is at least 1 generation back, especially since the first names are repeated in both families. Barbato and Angelo's parents were Giovanni Antonio Cosmo Mastrandrea 1814 and Angela Rosa Andriolo 1819. I'm thinking your group is from Giovanni's brother or cousin. Giovanni's oldest son was Giuseppe therefor it's likely Giovanni's father was a Giuseppe.?? Do you have a Giuseppe as an eldest son?

Giuseppa Rubano was from Piaggine Soprane, Salerno, Italy, just down the road from Valle dell'Angelo. Her parents were Pietro Rubano and Giovanna Pipolo (sometimes spelled Pepe or Pepola) aka Peter & Jennie. They lived with Giuseppa's brother, Felice Rubano, a banker in New York and his family.

I can send you some charts with more names if you send me your email address. Send to Are you on Ancestry? If not I can look for some trees with the Chicago Mastandreas in them. Did they keep the extra "R" in Mastrandrea?

Michael Mastandrea Headstone
Hi Mary,

Today I was at Queen of Heaven cemetery taking some pictures of headstones and I looked up Michael Mastandrea. He is not buried at Queen of Heaven but at Mt. Carmel. Since it appears that the one office covers both cemeteries I got the information and went across the street to Mt Carmel where I took the picture of his headstone. I confirmed where he's buried by reading the piece that was posted on his Find A Grave memorial....Mt Carmel. I have not posted the picture yet and will wait to hear from you before I do anything.

Lakeside, Todd
Hi Mary, thanks for contacting me.. Looks like you have one entry in this cemetery - Robert Grossman - Find A Grave Memorial# 41926456. If you have another here, I missed it!

One of the other contributors who had to transfer their memorials over to the TODD COUNTY Lakeside Cemetery, sent me the following instructions (very helful!)First, go to your memorial, then:

"Go to edit cemetery, click on cemetery, a new screen appears with the cem name already there & the state too; all I did was choose find cemetery, Osakis-Douglas was near the top; Osakis-Todd near the bottom; when that one is selected the upper one (Douglas) is removed; then save and the move is made immediately."

I guess all the information posted transfers if you do it this way. Try this - let me know if you have trouble.

All of our fellow contributors have been very good to work with regarding this. Good luck -- contact me if there is trouble.

Lakeside Cemetery, Osakis, MN
I do some volunteer work for both the Douglas County Cemetery Association and the Douglas County Historical Society. I'm also a Find a Grave contributor.

Just yesterday it came to my/our attention that Lakeside Cemetery is actually in Todd County. The city of Osakis IS in Douglas County, Lakeside Cemetery is NOT.

Here is a link to a map that shows the location of Lakeside Cemetery the County Line is the dotted/dashed line (8th Ave E). Douglas to the west of line, Todd to the East.

Can you make the correction to your entries for this cemetery? Thanks so much.

Best regards,

Julie Kirscht

RE: Petullo's
Hi, I have a tie to the Petullo family but am not directly related. Would you mind sending me your e-mail address and I will send more info? I will delete your message as soon as I get your address so it won't be left on for the public to see if that's what you prefer. Thanks for your reply, Martha

Hi, I just found your memorials for the Petullo's at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois, and some have photos included. Is this your family? Would like to know if this is the same Petullo family of an uncle of mine.

RE: Klinger
YOu may forward the Memorial to me. Thanks for what you have done for this family.

As to the name K/Clinger, my folks came from Steinau, Hesse, Germany around 1830. In June 2010 my oldest son and daughter visited our Klinger cousins in Steinau for 10 days. Wonderful people and beautiful Odenwald. Every where they visited there were Klingers. Our cousin provided considerable birth, marriage, life line etc from late 1700s in Steinau. The Klingers' owned and operated two grain mills.
I can pick up my Klingers in Paris, Edgar Co., IL in 1843 and then eventually my great-grandfather and family came to TX. The remaining Klinger family stayed and died in Paris, IL.

After arriving in TX., my g-grandfather began to change his last name from Klinger to Clinger.

Between 1830 - 1843 I believe they settled in PA, as their permission to leave Hesse stated USA PA. So, still looking.

I know there are many Klingers that settled early in PA and IL. Maybe we are related.

Again, thanks. And appreciate taking over the memorial on the Clingers at Oakwood. I do 10 family genealogy research.

RE: correction
Thank you very much. You are correct - Year of birth is 1785 based on data from our German cousins in Steinau, Hesse, Germany.

What is your relationship to the Klingers? As time went along the name was changed to Clinger, as least here in Texas.

RE: Benkowski
Dear Mary,
I have just spoken to my M.I.L and she is absolutely thrilled to get your reply.
the lady she used to write to in Clarendon Hills was Jeanette !
We all still live in Newcastle upon Tyne in England, where Ruby was born and first married Edward.

I would be most grateful if you would pass on the address if it is agreeable to Jeanette.

Unfortuneatly, Lilian ( Ruby's sister ) passed away in 1997, but the family are all close still and constantly growing in size !!

It would be wonderful to fill in the gaps and find out about Ruby's new life in America.

Thank you so much again,

Thank you once again for your reply and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

RE: Benkowski/Ryndak
Hi Mary. My grandmother and Leopold Ryndak were born in the same town in Poland, and they are distantly related by marriage. I found Harry's birth certificate on the FHC website. I know of and I did see Harry's obit there (I didn't know that was him). Joan
