Lupton Family
All The Lupton family are buried in St John the Evangelist Church, Roundhay, not in the Churchyard you are requesting.

Oakmont Cemetery Lafayette photo reuqest
See message from Oakmont Cemetery employee re: other findagrave photo request:

Re: Site Locations?Hello James,I did get your request, but unfortunately I am going to have to decline on supplying you with the general locations for graves in our park. Our company's policy has recently changed about finding general locations requested by outside groups who have no ties to the loved ones they are searching for. If the family member's want to contact Us directly of course we will be happy to locate those families' loved ones, but to locate general locations when a family member has not contacted Us directly opens up the possibility for a families privacy to possibly be violated. I do apologize for this most resent change, and that I won't be able from this point to continue to help with the general locations in our cemetery. Thank you so much for your understanding...I appreciate your understanding. Respectfully,Daryl Mosley

So, if you really want this photo, contact Oakmont directly and get plot number, location - this cemetery is HUGE. Then we can help you.

Joshua Soule # 17741758
I note that the "Calculated Relationship" for Allethea Soule (1769 -1771) cannot be correct. It shows her to be the daughter of Joshua, who died in 1767 and Joanna Studley Soule who also died in 1767. It is not possible that someone born in 1769 could be their daughter. Also, if you go to her stone, the names of her parents don't match Joshua. Discovered this while tracing my linage through Sarah Soule, who married (I believe) a man by name of Covelle or perhaps Coville and had a daughter named Alice Covelle, who married Jirah Smith (29 Jan. 1772 - 6 May 1851, who is my direct ancestor. Thanks for taking a look,

Ron Eyres

Looking for Lost Soules

Hello James,

I have been doing a lot of Soule Searching lately. Mostly in Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterville. Millard Soule (1871 - 1932) was 1st married to Nina Bell Salley (1880 - 1904) a 1st cousin to my wife's grandfather, Alden Howard Adams (1892 - 1958).

The snow is melting fairly well, so I hope to get over to Lakeview Cemetery this weekend;)

Sincerely, Tim Cooper

Hope to hear from you.

RE: Can't find Francis Gilroy
There are several old data bases of deaths and burials in Calaveras Co. floating around. The one for county burials was taken from deaths reported in the county hospitals that was put quarterly as the county hospital report to the Supervisors.
This list of deaths from Supervisor minutes was made into a list but that list was not checked to see if any of the people who died in the hospitals might have been buried by family in other cemeteries and it was not researched to name which county hospital the person died in, probably because the person(s) making the list did not realize that there were 3 county hospital cemeteries over the years.
We are researching the county hospitals and have found that the earliest was the French Hospital at Pleasant Springs, a few miles from Moke Hill. Dr. Hoerchner originally ran that hospital and had a county contract thru 1868 to care for patients that had no money to pay, with a cemetery next to the hospital. The hospital, and apparantly the cemetery there, continued in use for some years after it stopped being paid by the county.
In January 1869 the next county hospital was opened in San Andreas, since the county had rejected the bid from Dr. Hoerchner to continue serving as the county doctor. This second county hospital was the Gold Hill House Hospital and it was used from Jan. 1869 until it burnt in 1871, when the 2nd Gold Hill House Hospital was built on the adjacent lot. The cemetery for these 2 hospital buildings was NW of the first Gold Hill House Hospital and it was used until the Spring of 1890 when the large new hospital was built at the place where the current government center is now located.
The Paupers Cemetery for the last county hospital has been located above the government center but has only barely visible rows of rocks marking the head of each plot, and is weed covered and surrounded by only a broken down barbed wire fence with nothing to show what is inside the fence. The only marker is for Thomas Evans, erected by his parents some years after his burial. There are no burial records to help define the information on any of these hospital cemeteries. We realize that the Gold Hill House Hospital Cemetery must have many burials than we know about since it was used from 1869 until 1890 and the first report to the Supervisors stated 10 people died there in the first 3 months of 1869, but so far we cannot list who the rest of the burials would have been. The death record lists for Calaveras County are a work in progress as we find new information.

Sorry about the duplicate
My pinky finger slipped I think, put message on twice for Dr. Joshua.
I was amazed when my newneighbor said his name was Southworth, so I said Oh, you are Mayflower right? Then he was amazed and said "How do you know that?", and yes, his mom had done their research. We had never met before.
So, over 380 years later the Soule's and the Southworth's are again neighbors.
Very small world!

Thanks so much for the Transfer of Dr. Joshua.
I will post some more info and link him to his father Bishop Joshua.
My James Collins Soule, his son, disapeared during the Civil War, and there is no record of his death or burial except for a Guardianship record for his wife and children in Caldwell Co, KY. giving him as deceased. We do not know if he was enlisted or just a bystander.
You have done wonderful Memorials and Photos of the other Soule's, are you a descendant also?
Funny thing, when I bought my home in Lexington the next door neighbors came over to introduce themselves, they name is Southworth!

Joshua Soule #42516205, is my direct line. If you are not related would you care to transfer him to me. I have his father Bishop Joshua Soule's Memorial on Find A Grave, he is buried in Nashville, on the campus of Vanderbilt Univ and I will link the families.
Thank you for his Memorial and for saying he married Ann Best. The Ridlon Soule Genealogy book has his first marriage incorrect with no mention of Ann Best, so it has created some confusion on this line.
