RE: Runnion Family
Hi Megan,
Your offer to assist me is very much appreciated. Congratulations on the birth of your child! I hope you both are doing well.
I'm sorry that Oakland County ROD's is so far away from you. That is a lot to ask of anyone who has to travel such a long distance. I will give you the names of these three Runnion's when and if you think you might be heading in that direction.
Bless you for contacting me and have a wonderful week!
Jeff

RE: Runnion Family
Hi Megan,
Your cordial offer is most gracious. I was working on this Runnion family here in NC, which was going well until one of the offspring moved to the Detroit area to work in the motor plant. He married there and their children grew up in your area.
Normally, I can run through my checklist, beginning with Ancestry and Family Search, which usually provides enough clues to move forward. On this occasion, my DOD's were 1975, 1977 and 1984. I began to lean on Cook Funeral Home, who had served one of the family members. Then inexplicably, the staff at Cook inform me that one year was missing from their service record books; yes, it was the year that I needed, 1975.
My bullheadedness went into overdrive, so I contacted the main library branch out on Twelve Mile. They told me that they had a Heritage Room, that may be able to help me secure an obituary, since all of my previous searches came up empty. The volunteers scoured the records, but they too failed to find any of the keys that I needed.
Running out of options, I decided to search the phone books for Detroit, Farmington Hills and Oakland County in order to sift through all of the available listings with the same Surname. It seems that there are a good many families up there, but they spell their last name Runyon instead of Runnion.
I would not ask you to make a special trip to the ROD's office, so I'm at a crossroad here. Your signal to offer me assistance is most welcome. I may engage your aid, if I can send you a palpable tip, but I won't ask you to go out of your way.
Many blessings to you gentle-lady.
Jeff

Runnion Family
Hi Megan,
Is there any chance of gaining your assistance with a grave search for a couple of Runnion's? They passed away in the Farmington Hills area of Oakland, but so far, Ancestry and Family Search have not revealed any grave sites to me. I noted the East, West and North Farmington Cemeteries and checked them all, but no such Surname turned up. I can usually find the person that I am looking for by making contact with local funeral homes, but that too failed this time.
If my request comes at an inconvenient time, could you refer me to another active contributor in the Farmington Hills area? Any assistance you could provide would be most appreciated.
Jeff

RE: Josiah Whitcomb
Megan -

Thanks for the thoughtful message. My sister and I barely found the cemetery as the sun was setting and we quickly split up trying to find Josiah Whitcomb's grave. By the time we found it, we had to use a flashlight to photograph his headstone. We were really surprised how much better you could read it with the shadow outlining the letters. I'm so glad the photos are meaningful to you too. I love the thought of preserving these images for future generations. The headstone and footstone seem to be so unique to this era. Well, best wished to you.

RE: your photos
Hello Megan,
Glad to hear from you. I will be returning to Forrest Hills Cemetery-Belmont in April. The Whitcomb burial section contains about 20-25 burials in all, if you would like Pic's of those please let me know ahead of time. There is also a smaller Whitcomb section with maybe 5 or 6 burials not to far from the large section. I give you my permission to use the photo's how you see fit- this is your family.
I am connected to the Whitcomb's through the marriage of Richard Bower to 1st wife Anne Whitcomb. His 2nd wife, Helen Cooper is my great 2nd cousin.

Peace be with you ~
Theresa.

Photo Requests
Hi Megan,

Back in 2007, you claimed photo requests for my grandparents, Odin and Belzemite Olsen, who are buried at Holy Scepulchre. The resulting shots were beautiful, and I cherish the photos you so graciously took for me.

I have discovered that my aunt and uncle are also buried at the same cemetery. Since you did such a terrific job on my grandparents' photos, I thought I'd ask you first and see if you are up for photographing these additional markers:

Alfred F.Reid - #25567941
Loretta E. (Olsen) Reid - #104951344

If you are unable to take these photos for me, I'll submit photo requests. I just wanted to give you first crack at it.

Regards, Tim

I see where you posted flowers on my grandfather's, his sister's (Hazel), and his brother's "grave" as a great-grand niece. Which of my grandfather's brothers or sisters was your ancestor? Is it a Grandon?

I see you had left flowers for Margaret. I am looking for my Great Grandmother Margaret (Grenner / Gruner) Brand. Can you tell me if this Margaret married Charles Brand in Illinois in 1855 and had a daughter named Henretta that was born in 1860?
Thank you and have a great day. Carol

RE: Phoebe Crippen Mead & Timothy Mead
Megan - my e-mail is "aoneal16@cfl.rr.com" - the technician spelled "Oneill" wrong, but I left it be. Maybe that's the problem? Did you spell it "aoneal" - all small case letters? I hope so - all my other friends get through fine.

By the way, thank you so much for lal your trouble. Cemetery records indicate that Sally Giddings is buried there with Limon & I agree that's probably what happended to her stone - or, since she died much later, maybe they couldn't afford a stone.

Megan,

Yoou graciously accepted myphoto reequests for two other people. While you are there, could you please see if there is any sign of the two people mentioned above? I am desparately trying to find their gravesite in order to hel a friend join the Mayflower Society. I am reasonably sure they were buried in this cemetery in 1828 & 1829. Anything you can do would be most appreciated - Thanks! - Annabelle
