Henry Van Horn
Mike…..The Information you have on Henry and Elizabeth Van Horn from the history of Bucks Co is correct….However, the only information I have found indicated that Henry was buried across the river from Trenton, NJ……. I am a member of the SAR and have used both Henry and his son Isaiah for supplemental Patriots….I have been to Isaiah’s Grave in Indiana PA………I guess I’m not sure if this is the correct Henry Van Horn (Isaiah’s Father)…..Does the Church have any records? Terry

RE: Elizabeth VanSant VanHorn 25685982
From Henry VH stone I read his birthdate as Oct. 23,1728. His death date is unreadable but from "The History of Bucks County" by Wm.W.H.Davis,p.96, and (PA. Archives, vol.xiv,p.175) he was commissioned Capt. of a Company he raised on Dec.6,1776. He died of Camp Fever late 1777. Son Isaiah was a drummer in his fathers Company,1776-1777. According to The VanZandt Society "The Van Zandts of America"; Elizabeth Van Sant was b.1736, d.11/25/1807. She married Henry VH,Jr. in 1757. They had 8 children.
Elizabeth, the mother d. Nov. 25,1807, aged about eighty years,(Davis,p.96) I have a DAR supplemental through both of these patriots. Isaiah's original stone is not in Gilgal Cem. in Indiana Co.PA.

I hope this will straighten all this out. If not, let me know. D

Dear Mike, Elizabeth's page says she was born 1804. She was not married to Henry VH as he died before she was born. Isaiah was not her child. Would you please unlink her from both Henry and Isaiah. Thanks much! Darlene

John Scott

John Scott at your memorial #25654997 was my 3x great grand uncle. I've made editing suggestions re your memorial, but am aware that the graveyard has been or is being substantially restored since your 2008 photo. Are you aware of any other Scott family members sited with John Scott at Plot R-6? Also, "R-6" suggests the existence of a cemetery map. Do you know of one?

Gravestone Photo Permission
I am happy to see that you photographed the gravestone of Stillman Alvord in Shelburne Center Cemetery (Memorial# 16683643).

I would like to add this gravestone photo to the (non-profit) Alford American Family Association's collection of Massachusetts Obituaries, where his obituary is (or will be) included. You can see the current collection at

May I have your permission to include your gravestone photos? If so, the photo caption will say:

Photo from [cemetery name, city, county, state]—
Permission granted by the photographer, Mike [or your full name if you prefer]

And thanks so much for your gravestone photo work!

Best regards,
Pamela Alford Thompson (Find A Grave #47195155)

RE: Mary Folts Alvord edits
Correct. Mary Ann Folts, daughter of Peter Folts, married Russell Brown. She is Memorial# 19691962, where her gravestone identifies her parents.

I don't know the parents of the Mary Folts who married Amos Alvord (Memorial# 30016652).

RE: Mary Folts Alvord edits
Regarding my exchange with Ingrid (wienerin) about the Folts: She is reluctant to link the children of Peter Folts and Anna Cole Folts to them because Peter and Anna are among those who were originally buried in Old Village of Herkimer Cemetery but whose graves have not been located elsewhere. Research, including sonar readings, has indicated that no one is left in Old Village cemetery. Therefore, even though the memorials are there, she does not want to link to them. I disagreed with that conclusion, but they're her memorials!

RE: Mary Folts Alvord edits
I believe that Mary, daughter of Peter and Anna Cole Folts, is here: Memorial# 19691962. You can barely read the bottom of her gravestone because leaves are in front of it, but it apparently says "wife of R. [Russell] W. Brown" and "Daughter of Peter M. and Anna G. Folts."

See the 1920s transcription of Dutch Reformed Church Cemetery at "Some Small Cemeteries of the Town of Herkimer":

Russell and Mary Brown are on the 1850 census in German Flatts, Herkimer Co., NY.

I have sent corrections to the memorial owner, Bruce Colles.

Well I found out that you got the info you put on here from some other woman. I am not sure if you are related to the Seybert or Ellsworth family, but she evidentally gave you some info to put on the memorial. So you wouldn't really be able to answer the question.

Elizabeth was first married to Henry Harrison Seybert. Now I see you ment some research by Willard Ellsworth MD. Do you have this paper?? If so is there any mention of the marriage of Henry Harrison Seybert to Elizabeth's sister Lucinda Ellsworth first having two children then his marriage to Elizabeth after Lucinda died?

Lucinda is bur under Ellsworth however, one woman declares she was Henry Harrison Seybert's first wife and had two children who were raised by him and her sister Elizabeth.

Also was there no tombstone for Elizabeth???

James Allen "Jim" Rogers
Henry Allen military medallion
Hello Mike,
I'm still grateful to you from 2012 in being able to connect Henry to the adjoining Fretz graves due to your "area" photos. I've been stuck on locating his military service record. Someone asked if there might be a company or unit number on the medallion associated with his stone. I had assumed it simply said G.A.R. or something similar. How would I go about having that checked? It's not exactly a photo request. Might you know anybody in that area who could check? His memorial is #60123366. Thank you again.
