I have been researching my mothers family line Canfield, and Erastus Canfield is my ggggrandfather who Died In Weesaw Berrien County 1874. His first wife died in Canada about 1864 and after a few years found him in Michigan not far from his children. He was at the time of his death receiving a pension from his military service during the War of 1812 at Sacketts Harbor in NY. His father was in the Revolutionary War. I have been searching for his death record and know that his pension ceased in 1874. I followed Mrs. Severs info on line and wondered what happened to Sarah but found it odd that She was not listed by George Pierce guardianship - only Ida and Oscar. I thought maybe the child had died but also knew she could not have been Levi's daughter. Mr. Pierce's name appears on Erastus's pension filing papers in 1870/71. I am trying to find where he was buried.

Hi Joseph! Thanks for the Mellen updates… I've added the info and wanted to check and see if you are related in any way to them? If you are, I'd gladly transfer their memorials to your care. I'm not related at all … just happened to take their photo one day when I was at the cemetery hunting for photo requests. I'd rather family, any family, maintain their memorials! Just let me know! Take care, Dana

Do you happen to have a closeup view of the bottom of this stone? I would like to see the information on his wife Heroine Jenkins Talman which only half appears in the close-up. Please let me know, or post the photo if you have it. Thank you for taking the two photos posted. THERESE

Dear Hudson Cemetery,
I wanted to compliment you and your volunteers on the thoroughness of your work as indicated in the information on the Freeborne Family graves and their history.
I found that in researching Sara M. Freeborne, the sculptor that your website was as detailed and thorough in conveying the aspects of Ms. Freeborne's life as an international artist as many if not most art education sites.
Ms. Freeborne apparently did some sculptural work during her 14 years in Florence, so her work really is shared around the world.
Her importance, as a woman in the 19th Century who became a respected, successful artist, well known in Florence at a time when this was far less common should continue to be recognized and celebrated, as your website explains.
