Morning Billy,
Thanks for moving him to the proper location.
The fotos that I took yesterday aren't very good and I have to go to Austin for a few days.
I will finish out the project when I get back, with better fotos, and thanks again.
One more deserving veteran located, it's really good work that ya'll do.
Later, James Coston

Sandra Carol
Details on TX Vietnam Vet
It has been almost 45 years since SSgt Raymond Torres died in Vietnam. He is #3054464 buried in Plot Y, 626 at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. I found a detailed first hand report of the heroic actions of Torres during a battle that lasted more than 18 hours. From looking at his listed medals, it is obvious this man was never recognized for his heroic actions before finally being the last one evacuated from the battle field. He refused to leave before all the U.S. soldiers, including four MIAs (they were hiding in a cave) were accounted for. I just want to share this sentiment.

Jack Davison
Memorial# 22330667, Donald W Beard
Our class corresponding secretary was in the same company with him and has pointed out to me very sharply that he was known to all as "Dan," I suppose because of Dan Beard, the well known figure in Boy Scouting. It would jar the 1953 22nd Company members much less if he were referred to as "Dan" rather than "Don."

Photo of Kent Eichbauer
Billy, thank you for your work w/Kent Eichbauer's memorial. Kent was ahead of me in high school and his brother Steve was my class. I talked to his sister-in-law about a photo of Kent in his uniform. The one she gave me was a copy of a well worn photo. Just wanted to let you know I posted the photo. Still trying to obtain a photo of my cousin, Sunny. He was Navy. Thanks again.

Thank You Honoring Our Vets
Ran across your post on the memorial site of Ronald Alton Wilson. I visited his grave in Florida last summer and had the flowers placed that are in the photograph. Robert Fowler, who hosts his memorial here, has been most kind to me. If I can help you as to Ronnie, please let me know.

Vietnam Vet - Charles Howard Schelling
Hi, Billy -

I was looking around in the cemeteries on in my home town area (Humboldt County) and noticed you had added Duane Davis (the brother of one of my high school classmates) and clicked to read about you. Thanks for adding Duane.

Seeing that you are trying to find the final resting place of other Vietnam era vets, I remembered another classmate, Charles Schelling, who I went through elementary and high school with as well as attending the same church. I did some research on and located his funeral notice so I have added him to I looked in my school yearbooks and he does not have a senior picture but is in our junior yearbook. I still need to scan the photo and add that to his page.

If you look at it and see anything you would like to add from a vet's perspective, please send me an edit.

Thanks for all you're doing to document our Vietnam vets and thank you for your service.

Found another Vietnam vet on the wall
I don't know if you have found this one. I've been transcribing obituaries for Family Search Indexing and came across Captain Carl J Winter #81752339. I have kept a copy of his obituary if you would like it.

Thank You
I read your bio after following a link from a flower you left for a fallen soldier. I had no idea there was a project to do these things to honor the Vietnam Veterans and just wanted to let you know I think this is a wonderful and noble thing to volunteer your time to! My father served in Vietnam and while I don't know all the details but I know he was wounded at least twice and nearly escaped capture from what I can follow on his stories. May God Bless You!

RE: Sgt Sammy Bryan Bruce
Thank you for the connections of Sammy Bruce to his parents. I wish I had a relative or someone who could go to those Del Rio & Laredo cemeteries. I actually live in Washington state. I grew up in the little town of Quemado , 36 miles south of Del Rio. We went to Del Rio all the time when I was kid. If I find a way to get photos at the Del Rio cemetery I'll pass the info on to you. Let's hope for good luck!.! Thank you again for the great memorial for Sammy Bruce and the other Vets too. It's so good someone and you care enough to remember their sacrifice !! Thanks: Fay C

Capt Charles Sargent "Charley" Moore
Find A Grave Memorial# 122225598

Billy - I have added your bio for Captain Moore. Please note that I have removed the names of his wife, daughter and son as they are still living as per FindAGrave guidelines:

Please do not include the names of living or surviving relatives in the biography, unless you have their permission.

It was interesting to read about how Captain Moore's helicopter was shot down by enemy ground fire. My Dad was with the DOD and examined the helicopters recovered after being downed and returned stateside from Vietnam. He spent a lot of time with his Bible and in prayer on those days praying for the families of the young men who died and for the recovery of those who had survived.
