other names in the plot
The other names in the Bates plot are a Frank C Jr, Mertie Bates Loomis married to a Chester K Loomis but his grave isn't there. Elmer Bates 1887-1943 and his wife Florence E Turner Bates 1885-1986 she was a 101 when she died, Frank Clifford Bates 1923-1972, Marlene Bates(married name maybe Frank Clifford Bates wife they were both in the military during WWII and possibly their son Philip Clifford Bates 1959-1972 also in the military and there is also an infants grave with the name Tewksbury but I'm not sure if that's where the infant was born or a name. I have to retake the photo because I can't find it.

Seth Reed Bates mother
Hi Luke

I don't believe that Seth R Bates mother is Catherine Stayner. I believe his mother is Rebecca C Bates. Not sure what her maiden name is. According to the 1900 census Frank C Bates was married to a Rebecca C ?? Either that or Catherine went by the name Rebecca. They both have the same year of birth 1868. They had 3 boys and 3 girls. Their names were Elmer 1887, Mertie (female) 1889, Seth 1891 but the census has him listed as 1881 but 8 years old in 1900 so I'm thinking someone made a mistake on that one :), Irene 1893 and Frank Jr 1899. I don't want to add links that might not be correct so I'll do a bit more research before I add them in. I'll also see if I can make sure that Rebecca and Catherine are one and the same.. I think they are .. I'll let you know

I'm new to this and not sure how to do that. I am pretty sure they are Seth's children. I will double check with census for that time frame.

there are a lot of Bates and Reeds in this cemetery, I have photos of some of the plaques that were with this one and also the family stone with no names except Bates. There is also at least 3 different Reed family Plots across from this one..

RE: Mary E Morey Picture
The ground is now frozen so it will be a problem to try and get a better picture before spring. There is no question that she was born in 1877. It is harder to tell when she died. It looks like 1888 to me. I assume the other site you are talking about is Iowa Gravestones. I took the photo there.

went to Big Foot Cem several times before I finially found the marker of John L Hawver, rather i thought it was, turned out to be his spouse, stone was partically buried, cleared some dirt away, some washing, I was happy with the resultd. Next to Cathabine, there is one partically buried stone, want to get back to see if it's John's. There are several Hawver's buriels there, found another John & some infants, interested?

Koops request
Their suggestion:
Could you add William's parents and spouse to the family links section?

father: Berend Koops #59892031
mother: Johanna Koops #59892148
spouse: Bertha Koops #10230241

I have added the links and plot info.

FYI: I don't know what's on Find A Grave but i have just about all cemeteries in Yuba County listed on my site and might be something to look at.

RE: Lakeview Cemetery
I'll speak to John the cemetery manager tomorrow & he manages Forest Hills as well so may be able to confirm where they are with his "database". There are 18 Area's or Sections in Lakeview. I've photographed 8 of them this summer and I don't find the Wisner name in 7 of those 8. The 8th section I've yet to name the photo's so I'm not sure if they're in Area 1 or not and then of course there's 10 other sections :) It's a large, very beautiful cemetery...back to you soon.

RE: Edward Swanson
If he is in my area, I will be glad to get a photo. Try looking him up at the cemetery next door...Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Lafayette, CA. Call them as they are great about looking up names on the spot. Let me know.

RE: Edward Swanson

Want to let you know that myself and two of adult children went over the area pretty thoroughly around Mary Swanson's grave and we did not see any other Swanson.
I suggest contacted the number I provided in the last message if you are sure Edward is buried at Oakmont.

I will keep my eyes out for his headstone as I return there often.

Edward Swanson
Oakmont Memorial emailed me yesterday that they cannot find any information at this time. I will go back to Mary's headstone site and look around for Edward's on my own.
Also, you can contact 925-935-3311 - Oakmont Office. Let them know you are family.

I am having a little bit of difficulty obtaining information on a timely basis at this cemetery because it is very large and I think they are getting overwhelmed by request.

RE: Edward Swanson
I did look around yesterday for another name near Mary Swanson, but didn't see any graves close to her. I try to look each time for familiar last names. This is a very large cemetery.
Will check in with the office to locate Edward for you.
If there is any additional family you want from this cemetery, let me know soon so I can get put in my requests thru the office at the cemetery.
