McIntosh Family cemetery
I am related to all those buried in this tiny cemetery. Have you actually been to the cemetery? I tried about a year ago to find it and could not. There was someone from the local library that tried to help with a map but we could not find the spot. We were looking of Holly Springs Road leaving Hernando and going towards Hwy 305. I would very much like to find it and get some photos. But now I live out of state.....If I can get better directions I would come again to see it.
Thanks,
Sarah

Dr William Van McIntosh
Laura,

You listed his son Benjamin F., as a Confederate soldier. According to his widow, he served in Marmaduke's Cavalry Division, Company A (believed to be the B. F. McIntosh in Co. A, 1st Arkansas Cavalry)." However everything I could find shows he was in the 24th Infantry Regiment, Co H. This is my 3rd great grandfather so if you have additional information I would love to see it. Thanks

Banks Family Cemetery ~ Hernando
Hello Laura. Are you still active on findagrave? I ask because I've sent you repeated SAC's for 3 Banks memorials (in January and again in March) to no avail. I'd like to get you to correct some errors and add some links. Let me know, if you're still active, and I'll try again? Thanks.

Garrotts
Ms. Laura, Some time back you established memorials for R.C & Minerva Garrott and placed them in Wright Cemetery. I have taken a number of photos at Wright Cemetery in Looxahoma and never found them. Today I photoed some Garretts in Bethesda in Senatobia and found a monument for Sue Garrott. On one side I found R.C. and the other Minerva. It is possible that this monument was placed here when Sue passed because R.C.&M.D. had no marker at Wright but I suspect that they are all actually in Bethesda. Do you have any insight to this? Thank you, Larry

JOSEPH J. DEAN
Hi Laura - I just read your offering for Joseph at the McGavock Confederate Cemetery in Franklin, TN. Yes he is the man you think he is. I have requested Find A Grave correct his memorial. I am researching and correcting the entire cemetery. The information below applies to your Uncle:

Name: Joseph J. Dean
Rank: 2nd LT
Assigned to: 10th MS Infantry, Company A, Sharp Brigade
Death date: Nov. 30, 1864
Killed at the Battle of Franklin, TN
Buried at McGavock Confederate Cemetery on Carnton Plantation, Franklin, TN.
Burial Plot: Section 35 MS Grave 196

I have access to his Confederate Service Record which includes the following information:

Enlisted as Private March 27, 1861 at Horn Lake, MS.
Promoted to Corporal December 1862
Promoted to Sargeant August 1863
Furloughed for 40 days February 24, 1864 by General Johnston. (probably sick or wounded)
Promoted to 2nd LT August 1864.
Killed at Franklin, TN Nov. 30, 1864

Hope this helps you,

Rick Lambert

SUSAN JANE McGOWAN
Laura, Susan Jane McGowan is my great grandmother.I have been researching for close to thirty years. I see you list as place of birth for Susan as Tenn. You may be right, but I would like to know where you found that information. In my research I found that she was most likely born in Desoto Co.,MS. Though it has been quite some time ago and off the top of my head I can't tell you how I came up with MS. Just curious.

Dean Family HillCrest Cemetery,Holly Springs,ms
I have search searched HillCrest for the Dean Family you requested but have not been able to locate them.Susan, Aaron's wife is buried on the Marbury plot next to Minnie Dean Marbury.I worked in the cemetery as a teen and lived next door to Charles N.Dean {Arliewood}.Charles once took me to the Dean Cemetery out side of Chulahoma {hwy 4} and told me a lot of his relatives were buried in the cemetery. The same names that are posted in HILLCrest are also posted in the Dean Cemetery.Maybe Nan/Patty that entered the information on the Dean Cemetery might could provide you the information you are requesting, they have been very helpful to me on many occasions.Sorry I could not help.Billy Jones

Isaac Morgan
Dear Laura,
I noticed you set up a memorial for Isaac Morgan in the Morgan Family Cemetery. DeSoto, MS. He is my gggg grandfather. I put in a request for a picture of his and others in this cemetery but they were unable to find it. Do you have any more information regarding the stones there. Are they readable? Do you know if there is a road to it? I get the feeling is is abandoned and difficult to reach. I live in Maine and have not been able to search for myself. Any help would be appreciated. Martha

Mitman Cemetery
Hey, my name is Bill and I live in Medway. I am the descendants of the Mitmans of Fairborn. I knew the area used to be the family farm but I had no idea that the Mitmans had graves there. Thanks so much for documenting this. It means a lot.

I have found the Pitts cemetery in which records show them buried. I have entered that cemetery in Find-A-Grave as Pitts Dale Mill/Sheffield and populated it with burials, including theirs, based on local records and as shown by photos from my visit.

To get things straight, I suggest I tranfer ownership to you and you update their records to show additional info you placed in the original Pitts cemetery. Then you can delete their records from the original Pitts cemetery.

That will leave the original Pitts Cemetery empty of records. I already visited that cemetery and established a new Find-A-Grave record as Pitts-Blair Hollow and entered data for actual burials there. Don't know how we get rid of cemetery no longer needed. Maybe you can delete it since you are owner.

You will have to request the ownership transfer so I can respond.

Thanks

Thought this might help you.
