Captain Samuel William Marshbourne, memorial# 23244312
Thank you Dave, I really appreciate it! It's wonderful to see these men honored and their memories and family connections passed along through history. Samuel's sister, Mary Louisa Marshbourne Wilder, is my great-great grandmother. I can't imagine what is was like for these Civil War families to lose so many of their dear young men. Being from North Carolina, and researching ancestry, I find that every single family was affected deeply by this war. I moved to Texas at age 21 and married a Texan, but as I research my husband's side, it's amazing how I can't find anyone except for 1 young man that fought in the war. They're all from Iowa, Illinois, Colorado, and even northeastern states, but I still see no sacrifices in the families, whereas North Carolina losses are everywhere! I've been looking hard online to find the graves of their parents, which would allow us to hyperlink all the siblings, but unable to locate them. I'm going to Raleigh for a week next month, and my mother and I are going downtown to research everything we can. Thanks again, your work is a blessing!

Leslie Turner
David, when we went to the cemetery, we had the wrong coordinates for Leslie Turner (at Lorraine American Cemetery)- we had Grave 35, and he is in Grave 5. So, he was not photographed last weekend. However, we plan to go back either this weekend or the one after that, and we will be sure to get his marker photo then. -Mary

RE: Sgt Herbert Gaitling
David, we have taken pictures of all but a few of the newer photos that were requested- it just takes a long time to upload them since our internet is slow! We'll get those photos up just as soon as we can! And you are very welcome, it's our pleasure to help! :) -Mary

RE: John/Anna Kucera
You are so welcome. Yes, there are a lot of Kucera's around. I kind of stumbled upon them when I was in that cemetery. Glad they helped.

RE: Gerald Giordano
You're welcome. I then went over to Flat Creek Cemetery to take four more, and for the first time ever I was told I was not given permission to take photos of private property (the grave sites). The guy eventually backed down after I implied how ridiculous he was, but I was on my own to find them. I was successful.

Glad I could help. I took the afternoon and decided to get some exercise by walking the cemetery looking for graves to fulfill requests on Find-a-Grave. Got all but 3 done in this particular cemetery. Now I am pooped! have a great week.

RE: Prospect cemetery?
It has been found! I drove up and down Northbridge, but never found it, but another findagrave friend who is a descendant of some of the folks in there found it. It's totally overgrown, & she's looking into who actually owns the property (might be the River's Edge developers) and we're working on a restoration project. If you go to the cemetery page on findagrave, you'll find directions.

RE: Travis family cemetery
There were two requests on findagrave for photos. I got some directions from the old "all known cemeteries of fayette county" book, but it was to the Old Union Chapel cemetery and I got a good tongue-lashing from the property owner. If tomorrow's weather is good, I'll try your directions. Thanks for the help - hope you had a great Christmas day!
