|Harry Senft||RE: Leah Sipe Photo|
Your welcome Jim
I made a correction on Leah Sipe, her maiden wasn't Burkhart, it was Berkheimer and I also had her linked to her parents.

I'm fairly confident from both the photo and having felt the stone as I cleaned it that the dates are Sept 5 1898 to Sept 8 1898. I have submitted an edit with the dates, just waiting for the contributor to approve it.

I am happy to have been helpful. I have already photographed and posted on IowaGravestones.org virtually all of the tombstones in the county, so it is easy to respond. Having said that, a fair number of graves are unmarked, and others have eroded to the point that they are illegible.

I am a descendant of John William and Maria Hittel Sipe through Lavina Etoile. Are you a relation? Perhaps we can share info. If so, please respond and I will send further correspondence through the e-mail address posted on your member profile.

I was out today and had my "supplies" with me (chalk, etc.) I chalked the girls' stone and uploaded it to your memorials. It's a lot better than the last one I took. If you'd like me to remove the other photo, let me know.

Jim, there are probably 7 or 8 cemeteries within 20 miles or so of Waterbury. Every "gravestone" for the surrounding 50 miles are shown on the site I am a part of www.nebraskagravestones.org You might want to run a search there.

|Mona Anderson||Sipes @ First Methodist|
I checked my cemetery books and here is the information on the Sipes FYI:
Pvt. John Sipe, Co H 49th Regt. PV; died 6/3/1904, 86y 1m 21d, GAR Veteran
Rhoda, wife of John, died 5/18/1898, 70y
Margaret and Mary died 6/12/1898.
Margaret and Mary are listed between John & Rhoda and that's the stone I saw yesterday and could make out Margaret's name (barely). If I'm correct in assuming how the cemetery book reads, then Margaret and Mary are buried together under the one stone. Therefore, I've uploaded the same photo to your request for Mary as I did for Margaret.

You're welcome! It wasn't "pre-winter" in Central PA today. It was sunny and 70! (We did have MEASURABLE SNOW on Oct. 15 though! Weird weather!) I don't know if you got my "problem" message about Mary's grave but there is an empty space between John and Rhoda and a badly eroded gravestone beside Margaret. I was uncertain so I didn't take the photo. I will see if I can contact a caretaker who may be able to point out the correct place and if so, I'll take the photo then. I'm in the process of transcribing all of Mifflin County's cemeteries to Find A Grave so if you have other ancestors here check the cemeteries for the county. If any of the memorials are yours, I will gladly transfer them since I'm not related to anyone here. I'm just doing it to help others who have helped me.

|Henry Rayner||Annie Mentzer @ Salem Stone Cemetery|
I visited the cemetery today, walked around once, but didn't find Annie. After I got home, I looked on on the Usgwarchives.net site, and saw an Annie transcribed an there, but her birth/death dates were different (1830-1906). Just wondering if this is the same one you are looking for, or is there indeed another one. Here's the page, http://files.usgwarchives.net/pa/cumberland/cemeteries/frankfd02.txt.
I'm going to go back next week to talk with the church.
