RE: Bennie Conklin
If you are coming down Main St, enter the cemetery at the entrance closest to the gazebo. The small section immediately to your left is A, the larger one on the other side is C. You should notice the big Rauhut stone in section A. If you still can't find it the Cemetery office is off Summit Ave. They have cemetery maps right in the lobby.

RE: Elisha Bunyon Evans
I'm not sure how familiar you are with the cemetery but the free ground area is in the northeast corner. If you enter the cemetery from Main St at the gazebo entrance, go 3/4 the way around the circle (or cheat and just take a left). When you come to the T intersection, the graves straight ahead are in the Free Ground section. The name sums it up pretty well. The graves aren't as well organized and a lot of them are in pretty bad shape. I have always wanted to know the story behind the Free Ground so if you know, fill me in!

RE: Proximity Cemetery
I don't believe that. I just finished yesterday of taking pictures of all of the graves there. I wish I had known. When did you take them. We have had some vandalism there and have many unmarked graves with headstones thrown about. Yours might help us place the graves where they belong. Do you live near by? I live in McLeansville. You can e-mail me at and I will send you my phone number so we can talk and maybe meet face to face.

Proximity Cemetery
We are in the process of restoring Proximity Cemetery in Greensboro, NC. We are getting ready to list all of the marked graves into Find A Grave. There was no list of who is buried in the cemetery leaving the new owners perplexed as to what to do. So, we just finished making a list of those we can identify and I am photographing all of the graves, marked and marked but no name. If you know of loved ones buried there, we would love to talk with you. You can contact me at thanks
