Leck Risner
Thank you for the photo of the grave stone of Leck Riser ... I'm wondering if you'd grant me permission to use your photo on my file. I place credit in the description of the photo and I have no interest in using the photo for anything other than genealogical purposes.

Thanks so much for your consideration.

RE: Jason Brown
I'm not sure about that. I know that gravesite is my great great grandfather's. He is the father of gib brown of abbot creek Floyd county Kentucky. Gib is father to my grandfather estil brown from left fork abbot creek bonanza Floyd county Kentucky. Estil is buried in Preston cemetery Alger Ohio Hardin county.

David K Brown
Hello Kristine,

My Uncle Sherman Brown (1922-1984) was a great-grandson of David Brown and Izana Pitts.

I am trying to help his kids (my cousins) trace the family back further.
Someone in the family had determined that David's parents were Berry and Francis Brown. I could not find evidence of this and to the contrary, the David listed on the census rolls as son of Berry has a birth date that does not correlate with David Brown husband of Izana.

Would you have an information we could use? There is a family reunion the end of August with the Brown's living in the Toledo, OH area and some are coming from out of state as well.

RE: Harry Bykowski Smith
Unfortunately I did not have a map indicating the sections in the cemetery. I do remember that it was in a section on the north side of the highway and it was in the first 5 or 6 rows from the left.

Major Mumford
Thanks KTB-Am resident of Crawford Co Illinois where the Horace Published the Crawford Bulletin and we had nearly 100 boys in Co F of the 5th Il Cav. Thought the "Boys from the Praire-History of the 5th Illinois Cavalry by Rhonda Kohl treated the Major very well.

RE: Major Mumford
That was very kind of you, thank you.
Not a family member but a dear elderly friend of mine, Mary Mumford, married into the line. Mr. Ziegler and I have the same Ziegler relatives buried at Pioneer so we joined forces in trying to get everyone buried there remembered. A dozen or so souls went to Grove Cem. but... most of the others remain, covered with extra dirt and forgotten. The Pioneer cemetery is now a small Park, no one knows they are actually playing on long forgotten soldiers and pioneers burials.
Mr. Ziegler and I are hoping to change that.....

Thank you again for Major Mumford's data-

His name is the same as mine

I just returned from a month in Ohio, just saw your email today. Are you related to the Botkins Mumford's? Sorry I didn't take the time to look at your tree, busy putting things away.
Will write you in a day or two-

RE: Major Mumford
Great! I think the photos are as good as possible considering how old it is. You did a great job! It appears the other "unknown" listing with this stone is the back side of it? Or the front, since it has the word "Mumford" and appears to be taken from a different angle based on the background. If you have the other side as a photo, I would be interested if it is his father? Thanks again for your quick and excellent response to my request.

RE: Major Mumford
Thanks for contacting me. It's quite possible that he has no stone, based on what I see posted here. You'd think he would since he was a Major in the Civil War. Before you go, please check the photo posted to a listing named "Unknown" (#63667089) in that cemetery. The poster said he couldn't read the stone but it sure looks like "Mumford" to me, altho the date appears to be Sept 1859 or thereabouts. I am positive of Major Mumford's date of death as I have his obituary notice from the newspaper. But that stone would be worth checking out and perhaps the Major's stone is near it. Thanks for anything that you do! :)

RE: Ingram Cemetery
I just got a reply from the Bath County Librarian in answer to my request regarding the cemetery. She said the Cemetery Book showed the Ingram Cemetery where Cad is buried is located on Pine Grove Road off of Hwy 36 in Bath County and was located on the right side of the road. That's not far from where I live in Menifee so I might just take a ride over and look for it.

RE: Ingram Cemetery
Hello Kristine,

No I'm not related but I am helping a Sons of the Confederate Soldiers group locate Civil War soldiers graves around in my area of Menifee and sometimes Bath such as now. They want to come and place a new military stone for Cad and it's always of course free of charge. It's my job to locate these cemeteries where the soldiers are buried.

Kristine, thanks so much for the "Detroiter At Heart" token you left for my grandfather, George E. Miller. That was so kind of you!! I have never been there but hope to sometime. That is where my paternal roots are and I am so intrigued by it. Thank you for your kindness and for your pride in that area. I appreciate you. Have a Merry Christmas!!!
