James Earl (Sam) Price
RE: Oren Dennis - 103852649
Several of us are working to make some sort of sense out of confusion of the Confederate Hero's buried in Vicksburg City Cemetery.
I have no doubt that 98 - 99 percent of the Confederates are buried in or near the Cemetery.
Also, unfortunately, I think there is very little (Almost No.) possibleity that his burieal spot will be identified. James Earl (Sam) Price

Dear Hal; I assume you are a descendant of Oren Dennis. Unfortunately, this Confederate Hero is buried in an Unknown & Unmarked Grave in Vicksburg City Cemetery adjoining Soldiers Rest. Would you be interested in placing a V A Memorial Stone in His honor. James Earl (Sam) Price

Hi Hal,
It's no problem at all. I really enjoy going to do these photos.
I will let you go ahead and remove your request for Mary. I will keep my eyes open in case you do need to request again.

Thank you!

Mary Layman
Hi,
I claimed your photo request for Mary at the Florida National cemetery in Bushnell. After walking through the location of where her plot should be, I found 748 and 750. There is an open area for where 749 should be.
I also checked the cemetery computer and neither Mary or her husband are listed.
Is there any other information you can find about this? It is quite possible they were cremated and never got interred there.
Please let me know if you find out anything. I'm happy to help if I can.

Thank you for the parent links to Forest U Need and Della
This is kind of you. I saw that Della had a photo, and when I tried to put out a request for Forest, saw that somebody had asked earlier (maybe you!)
In any case, thank you.

Erin Nikitchyuk
Jane Haswell
Hello Hal- I am of no relation to the people I'm about to write about. I've just been working on following the Warner family from Connecticut out through the various locations their kin landed based on the Descendants of Andrew Warner book.

I write because I noted in your bio that she is a brick wall and I have a potential clue for you.

So I was trying to link up the parents of George Edgar Haswell (85562602) to Edwin L. and Jane (Dodge) Haswell. I don't have enough information to be certain that the Edwin in the same town is correct nor that this Jane Haswell (the only one in WI) is his mother. They have similar enough birth dates that it is possible.

In George's obituary it states he was the sole supporter of his father's farm and managed to educate himself in grammar school while managing that farm. This would indicated his father was either infirm, or more likely deceased, at that point in George's early years. As was typical in the age, it's entirely possible that your Jane Haswell married another male within the Haswell family after she was widowed. Dane County (where George is) doesn't appear to be too far from Dodge County (where your Jane is buried) for this to be a plausible theory to investigate.

Just a thought to pursue if you're still trying to break down that brickwall. I'd love to hear how it ends up.

Cheers! Erin

Lavina Sparling @ Brown Cem.
I was at Brown Cemetery today, I can't find a stone for her. I general don't flag as a problem in case I'm wrong. I don't want others to dismiss a request. She is my wife's g. g. grandmother, so we've looked before. Just wondering are you related to Lavina too? Sincerely, Dale

I have a photo of the headstone(not digital probably at least 20 yrs old)...somewhere...I just did a quick search and it wasn't where I hoped it would be. I can't imagine the stone not being there. I will stop by and take another photo...I remember I had a hard time finding it the first time and then...there it was right in front of my nose. I will probably go that way in a week or so.
