FYI

Found Early Arthur's draft registration. He registerer in WWI as Auther Early Young in Cotton County, OK. He indicated his birthplace as Denison, Grayson Co, TX. I have a couple of McDaniel relatives who also used the Auther spelling.

Handley
Ron, I forgot, I have a picture of James' son, John Lee Handley on his memorial at Forest Hills Cemetery, Hamilton County, TN. I got it from someone's tree on ancestry. Someone duplicated my memorial on him a few months ago, but spelled Handley without the "e" as it was on his marker.
I think John looks somewhat like your Capt. Alex. Let me know what you think. Jane

I saw the picture. I think he does favor the Handleys, but better looking than mine. If I get the picture of James again from the cousin, I will post it. Jane.

Handleys
The Handley men are large, c. 6ft, 2 to 4 inches, large frame, large nose and bright blue eyes. Years ago, I met the father of my father-in-law's half sister whose last name was Handley. He looked exactly like my grandfather's brother, Samuel Carroll Handley. I traced his lineage and he was descended from John Handley, Rev. Samuel's brother. He is buried in Monroe, WV. Jane

Picture
Denise's tree is private, meaning it is not on display. Only the names of people and birth day can be seen, so I can't see the picture, but says photo of him. A second cousin of mine sent me a picture of Alex's brother, James. It has been in storage in a box in California for 10 years ! He looked like an Indian, and not the Handleys. His skin was very tanned, his hair black, dark eyes. His hair was in pigtails, folded on top of his head with beads in them. I am thinking of contacting cousin again. The Cowans were rumored to be part Cherokee. My mother looked like James when she was younger. We always thought she was part Jewish from someone back on our lineage. The Handleys

Samuel Handley
Ron, Thank you for the info. They were also on 1870 Census, Samuel Hunley, Gilmer, Upshur, TX with a dau., Eliza. Think she may have been a live-in helper instead of dau.

My new computer has a data virus, much more complicated than e-mail problem. Will try to find someone to fix it. Jane

Handley Family
Ron, Thank you very much for the names and dates on John & Nancy's children. All of Samuel & Susannah's children moved to Lawrence County, AL in the early 1830's, then all were on the 1840 Census in Pontotoc County, MS. I have memorials on them linked to Samuel & Susannah's memorials on findagrave. Many of the grandchildren moved to Texas. Jane

Handley family
Ron, There were no death dates, only birth. I am trying to find the earlier Handley family descendants and where they are buried. I have added a few to link with their parents (children of Samuel and Susannah)on findagrave. I have found some, especially children of daughter, Lucinda Handley Bell. Jane
