Tammy Gephardt
Virginia C Martin
Good Morning! My name is Tammy Gephardt. I just thought I'd let you know that I sent you some updates for Mrs. Martin's memorial. I got my information directly off of the 1900 Census for her birth Month and for her death information, came straight off the Death Index.

RE: Amelia Eckert family
Thanks for accepting edits and updating her memorial page. Yes, I noticed too in Amelia's obituary, that it stated Jacob was Amelia's adopted son. I pondered that, then decided it must have been a misprint. Instead, Jacob was her adopted GRANDSON. Jacob is now linked as the son of Robert Eckert and Elizabeth (Maschmeier) Eckert.

Not related, just researching after stumbling upon an obit for Robert Eckert, while looking for a totally different name in newspaper archives.

Then, what a pleasant surprise to find and be able to link these two families.

Thanks for all you do on Find A Grave.

Loiza Rose at Claggett Cemetery
Hi Susan,
Just an FYI -- I can tell you absolutely that Loiza Rose and her mother, Elizabeth Peckinpaugh Rose, are not buried in Claggett Cemetery. Larimore will be unable to provide any sustainable proof otherwise. They simply are not there. Recent Rose burials have begun to show up on Find A Grave close to where they were documented to have been buried some time ago. As always, your call though.

Best wishes,

Orr Daniels, 16202226, Claggett Cemetery
Hi Susan,
I am wondering if you would be agreeable to the transfer of Orr Daniels to me as I have quite a bit of information I can add for him? If so, my contributor number is 47297998. In anticipation - Thanks.

Hope your research is going well. Mine has finally concluded and I am cleaning things up and passing along information.

Best wishes.

Hogate and Martin
Hi Susan,
Please excuse the intrusion -- just wondering if you received an email from me that I sent to your private gmail account? I have been having significant issues with my internet service so sometimes emails don't go out or come in.

The jist of the email was that I just learned Hertha Martin is the mother of the Hogate men buried in Claggett Cemetery's Hogate family lot. Her memorial says her relationship to the Hogates was unknown so I thought I would pass the info along.

Best wishes,

Lola B. Liedtke (14966541) and George Glen Liedtke
Hi Susan --
Just discovered that Lola's middle name is Bernice. Do you know anything about a previous memorial for George Glen Liedtke - her husband? My search engine pointed to a memorial at Claggett but nothing came up. Based on information I have, I added one for him along with burial site information. If you know something I don't and I need to remove it, will you please let me know?
Hope your research is going well.

Best wishes,
Liz Weddle

Jane Hammack Memorial# 43213600
Hi, Susan---

Just to let you know: The birthdate on Jane (Frakes) Hammack's marker is *26* Jan 1822 -- which matches the date in the John Frakes family Bible written at the time.

Nathan Haines
Valetine "Feldie" Staatz
I got the pictures done of the Kandel and Staatz graves.
I put picture captions on the area shots if you care to click on those pics to see that.
Anna's name is not on the gravestone with Ralph. I rechecked with the cemetery about that and they said they have no record of Anna being interred there. That would explain why her name is not on the gravestone, right?
I checked and could find no obit or funeral notice for Anna. Don't know if she was cremated or otherwise. I think the only way you will find where she went is to find a surviving family member who would know.
You should change Anna's Find A Grave page to unknown burial since she is not in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
Apparently you did not want to put in a picture request for Anna's mother and father-in-law's graves who are right there with the other graves. That is fine. I got a friend of mine to do that.
I did not understand why you put in a request for pictures of Anna's grave when I specifically asked if you would not do that? Maybe you had a good reason for that?? No big deal anyway.

Sandra Scott
Bennett, Hopewell Cemetery
I wonder if I may have your permission to use your cemetery and/or grave marker photos on my family website. Check it out at This is how I'd be using the photos and obituaries I find on Find A Grave, with 'used with permission' in the caption.

Thank you.

Frank Guthrie, #43806633
Hi Susan,
I have been able to dig deep and find records for Frank Guthrie so I wondered if you would be interested in transferring him to me # 47297998)to add what I found? If not, I understand.
Best wishes, Liz

RE: The Bairs
Hi Susan,
Well done. I like the way you handled conflicting information -- very clear and concise. I think the mystery could be solved if the headstone itself was researched (who, what, where, why, when) or newspapers surrounding the time of placement to see if something was reported; then move forward from there. That's the academic researcher in me -- too bad I'm not in the area any longer. As we undoubtedly agree, this IS a solvable mystery.

Obituary - Elizabeth Ganiard
Hi Susan,
Still plugging away at passing along information. For Elizabeth Ganiard, her obituary citation is:
The Oregon Statesman (Salem, Oregon) 27 Sep 1924, pg. 5

I found this one on the Historica Oregon Newspapers website maintained by the University of Oregon, Eugene.

She passed away at home, age 81, on 25 Sep 1924. Survivors include one son (unnamed) and a daughter, Mrs. Edith Worden, Petersburg, Nebraska. Arrangements by Terwilliger Funeral Home.

The Bairs
Hi Susan,
I was just reading your narrative related to Ella Bair and the fact that the family was not in Oregon at the time of her death. I thought you might be interested in another person on the family headstone - Fredric Bair. According to the Oregon Death Certificate, he died in Gold Beach, Curry County, Oregon and was buried in Gold Beach four years after the death year given on the headstone. That makes two people with "curious" dates. The headstone is beginning to sound like a "best guess" memorial perhaps surrounding one or more actual burials in that location.
Hoping you find this interesting and not a nuisance.

Best regards.

Obituary - Clara Austin
Hi Susan. Finishing up the Claggett research project and thought I would send along the obituary for Clara Austin. It took a while to find it because her last name was initially misspelled in the paper.

Daily Oregon Statesman (Salem, Oregon)
10 Dec 1912, pg. 2

"DIED. ANSTIN - At her home eight miles north of Salem, Friday, December 6, 1912, Mrs. Clara Austin, aged 42 years."

"Mrs. Austin leaves a husband and five children, the oldest of which is 12 and the youngest 3. The funeral was held at the family residence yesterday at 10 o'clock. Burial was in the Claggett cemetery."

Claude Dennis

Am trying to verify your dates for Claude Dennis in Linesville Cemetery. His date of death is not listed in the cemetery records at all and I can not find a Pennsylvania death certificate at all for him. He was living in Ohio in the 1920 census. The 1880 Pennsylvania census shows he was born "about 1874" but does not prove it was 1874

Ahhh.... I just found his death listed in the Ohio index, showing he died in Cuyahoga County, Ohio on September 27, 1923. It does not list the date of birth at all.

Frances Beard
Many thanks for the photo, Susan - very interesting that the marker lists her as "Sr." - I was unaware there was a Frances Junior (or even that it was an observed naming tradition among women) so I shall hop down the rabbit hole further now! I'm very grateful for your time.
