Thank you for the correction. I also believe it reads consumption. Not sure why I read it wrong the first time. (Guess I just needed someone to point it out to me)

RE: John Anthony
I did not know this cemetery was designed by Dale Evans nor that she and Roy Rogers are buried there. I watched them on TV as a kid and loved them. I hope someday to see it. Thank you again.

RE: Mary Hargis Bozorth
Hi, Mary, I'm glad to hear form you. Would love to compare notes on Jonathan Bozorth and Mary Hargis. What is your line of descent from them?
My husband's line is Claude Earl, Jr; Claude Earl, Sr. William Franklin Bozarth; Eli D. Bozorth, Jeremiah Bozorth; Jonathan Bozorth, John Bozorth, Simon Bozorth and Jean Bosssard/ (in English, John Bozier).

I have seen the information about John Hargis and Elizabeth Freelove, but have not been able to convince myself that Mary is descended from them. There is considerable information about a Thomas Hargis in the 1780s in Kentucky that has led me to the possiblilty that he could be her father. I have no proof, but I do have a lot of circumtantial evidence that has caused me to consider this. I think that this Thomas Hargis is the brother of Ensign John Hargis (1742-1779).

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Take care, VirJean

RE: Lewis Family Tree
Hi Mary,

Nice to hear from you again and of course I don't mind taking a picture of the Webster marker next to your grandmother's marker.

I can't get to it this weekend but will next weekend. Mary Koontz's marker will be easy to find because I listed her marker's GPS coordinates!

I actually thought of your great-grandfather last week when we buried my father at Woodlawn. Another example of what a small world this is.

I googled 7720 Kentwood and it looks like there is a big new house on the lot now.

Go to and type in the address then click on search maps. Then drag the little yellow man to the red pin point (as soon as you drag the little man you will see the streets turn blue). You will then get a birds eye view of the houses on the street. See if you recognize anything. I will still get a picture of 7720 Kentwood for you but it might be fun to see if you recognize anything on that street.

Will contact you again as soon as I can.

You are very welcome. I found a record that lists his parents as Richard Lewis and Sarah Brink both of Saugerties, NY. I have no other information on them.

Lewis Family Tree
Hi Mary,

I would love to photograph your family members. Could you contact the cemeteries and request their locations? Inglewood is HUGE. Also if you were able to get the location for the Santa Monica one I can go there too, it's not far. Let me know if you are able to get the information you should have no problem being a family member.

I went to Venice High (1973) I find it fascinating that you grew up in Westchester. We lived near Jefferson Blvd. at the time and did a lot of our shopping at Sav-on, Penney's, Broadway and Karls in Westchester. My husband and I moved here in 1982. We live on Nardian Way, right off of Fordham Road near Loyola University.

We work together as carpenters and have worked for many people who were original owners in Westchester. Sadly many are gone now. Was Mr. Beattie the principal of Westchester when you were there? We never met him but have worked for his wife Helen Beattie. We currently have a daughter who is a senior at Westchester High and one that graduated from there in 2005. We have seen old yearbooks of Westchester and yes you would recognize the buildings but the student population sure has changed. Our kids are now the minority.

When was the last time you were in Westchester? I can email you pictures of places you remember so you can see the changes.

Hope you are able to get the location info.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Cooper Family
Dear Mary,
Thank you for giving me background on Charles and Amye Cooper, it was fascinating to read. Love to hear about the people I photograph! You have a great story, thanks for sharing it with me. Just above Charles and Amye in the glass case are Joseph and Binnie Cooper, and Beulah Koen. Are they related to you too? I added their photo to their site too. Just one picture as they are all together.
Thanks again for writing me and sharing your story.
