RE: George W Powers..
OK been spending some time on this mystery .. and here's what I think....

1860 census - George M D Powers is living with Joseph and Mary Creger (George is b. 1845) - - Mary is b. 1837 ... so I'm thinking they are brother and sister..

So

I then looked at the 1870 - Fayette County, West Virginia census (where I know that George Powers is later on) .. and Mary and Joseph Creger are living with Nancy Powers.. (which I believe is Mary and George's mother..)

I do know that George's sister Mary Carolina Powers married Joseph Henry Creger.... so again am pretty mother is Nancy (Nelson) Powers b 1818 in Virginia... still trying to verify the father..

So - - still looking

1880 census - Nancy Powers is widowed and living with her daughter Sarah and husband William Barnes (still Fayette County, West Virginia)

George W Powers..
Sorry don't have a great answer for you .. looked back at several census' ... did not find anything wonderful... am assuming that I got that information from another researcher - - if not correct I'll be glad to correct it..

My interest in this is Cora Belle Powers (his daughter) who married into the Barton family .. (not my direct line - -

Bessie Edith Mabe Linville
I tried to delete Bessie as the wife of Clarence, but whoever has her entry must have her connected to him, because I can't take it off.

Try contacting "Ancestor Seeker". I hope that might do it.

Thanks!!!

John Lawrence
I transferred him to you. Lavinia's memorial was set up by Eric Stone so I can't transfer hers. I sent an edit to Find A Grave that Lavinia's name is misspelled on her memorial.
