incorrect relationships
I am the maternal great-grandson of John LaPointe #109089514. His full name was Joseph John LaPointe. He married Olive Elizabeth Burns, daughter of Ignatius William Burns #90916177 and Jane Wright Burns Burns #90903578. He did not marry Olive E Burnett #116225995, as another contributor entered. (That error is being corrected.) He did not have a daughter named Phyllis LaPointe Mears. He only had one daughter who lived, who was my grandmother, Gertrude LaPointe. Will you please make a correction in your entry by deleting the information about Phyllis.

The other Find-A-Grave contributor has updated her entry for Alice Roberts Law to include the date of death you had listed for her in your entry. Her grave entry is now connected to those of her parents.

Thank you so much for contributions to Find-A-Grave. They are very much appreciated.

Thanks for doing the edits I have sent.
Thanks for accepting all the edits I have sent you recently. I really appreciate it. Only had one contributor decline to do them. Not sure why and the contributors e-mail address apparently isn't working. At least the vast majority of my edits have been approved. Again thanks for everything you have done. Have a nice evening, Farm Girl from MO.

Mary Smith Gooding
Mary Smith Gooding is not buried in the Miller family cemetery, Bevier, Macon County, MO. This is my family cemetery that I care for, and there is not such a grave in the cemetery.

RE: Bernice Bates
Hi, the death date portion of the death certificate is messed up so I did a combined analysis of the death certificate and the death notice. The Madison Times is a weekly paper and is dated Thursday, Jan. 13, 1927. It said the baby died on Friday, which would be Jan. 7th. It also said the baby was buried on Saturday, which would be Jan. 8th. The death certificate said that burial was on Jan. 8th. So, I think Jan. 7th is the correct date of death. The death certificate lists a birth date of Dec. 21, 1926 and said the baby lived 16 days. A death date of Jan. 7th after having lived 16 days would indicate a birth date of Dec. 22, 1926. So I think the birth date was either Dec. 21st or 22nd. The most important point for me was establishing the correct death date because that portion of the death certificate was messed up so bad. Thanks for your help.

RE: Robert Samuel Taylor
Oh yes, please do. That's why I sent it. I am working on a project for all 23 sailors killed in action on the ship, have been for years. The first "boy" killed in April 1945 was Robert Moore of Enid, OK. His OK cousins just visited the ship last week. The other 22 sailors were killed in July, including Bob Taylor, in another attack.

I'd be happy to send a few photos of the ship (now) and the plaque if you'd like (you can add those too). But I have difficulty in using Find a Grave methods to send photos.

My Email is

Send me a small note and I can reply with pix. The USS Cassin Young (DD 793) also has its own website (done by volunteers) and can be Googled as well via "Boston National Historical Park."

Robert Sam Taylor
Robert Samuel Taylor (Water tender 2nd class) was killed in action just east of Okinawa, Japan, on July 30, 1945. A kamikaze attack at about 3:30 am was his doom along with 21 shipmates, aboard the USS Cassin Young (DD793) destroyer. He was the son of John Leo and Aphus Taylor who lived in Laclede, MO. The ship now is a floating museum at the Charlestown Navy Yard (part of Boston National Historical Park) across the Charles River from downtown Boston, MA. There is a plaque on the ship commemorating those lost in battle, including Robert. The Cassin Young was the last destoyer hit by a kamikaze in the Pacific war. Park Rangers provide tours of the ship in season.

RE: Thanks!
Your appreciation and kind words are so welcome. I needed some words of encoragement. I hope you have a nice 4th of July! Looks like we are going to be busy most of the day putting up more hay. We were in the fields yesterday. Looks like more rain coming next week so that will put a stop to us working on putting up hay again! Sounds like the east coast is really getting hit by another huricane! I have a nephew who's family lives in North Carolina about where it hit the coast. I sure hope they make it through this storm. Take care, Farm Girl from MO.
