RE: Robert Samuel Taylor
Oh yes, please do. That's why I sent it. I am working on a project for all 23 sailors killed in action on the ship, have been for years. The first "boy" killed in April 1945 was Robert Moore of Enid, OK. His OK cousins just visited the ship last week. The other 22 sailors were killed in July, including Bob Taylor, in another attack.

I'd be happy to send a few photos of the ship (now) and the plaque if you'd like (you can add those too). But I have difficulty in using Find a Grave methods to send photos.

My Email is

Send me a small note and I can reply with pix. The USS Cassin Young (DD 793) also has its own website (done by volunteers) and can be Googled as well via "Boston National Historical Park."

Robert Sam Taylor
Robert Samuel Taylor (Water tender 2nd class) was killed in action just east of Okinawa, Japan, on July 30, 1945. A kamikaze attack at about 3:30 am was his doom along with 21 shipmates, aboard the USS Cassin Young (DD793) destroyer. He was the son of John Leo and Aphus Taylor who lived in Laclede, MO. The ship now is a floating museum at the Charlestown Navy Yard (part of Boston National Historical Park) across the Charles River from downtown Boston, MA. There is a plaque on the ship commemorating those lost in battle, including Robert. The Cassin Young was the last destoyer hit by a kamikaze in the Pacific war. Park Rangers provide tours of the ship in season.

You are welcome. Had to pull some of the grass away from the stone to read them, they are flush with the ground. Glad was able to help.

RE: Thanks!
Your appreciation and kind words are so welcome. I needed some words of encoragement. I hope you have a nice 4th of July! Looks like we are going to be busy most of the day putting up more hay. We were in the fields yesterday. Looks like more rain coming next week so that will put a stop to us working on putting up hay again! Sounds like the east coast is really getting hit by another huricane! I have a nephew who's family lives in North Carolina about where it hit the coast. I sure hope they make it through this storm. Take care, Farm Girl from MO.

You are welcome. Thank you for updating the information. Nettie dying at such a young age with 2 small children for Dudkey to raise I'm sure was quite an ordeal for all concerned. Take care.

RE: Victor Lehr
Thanks for transfering his memorial to me. I have linked him to his parents and added his obituary to his memorial. Also added a photo of his gravestone earlier today. Thanks again so very much for the transfer and I hope your day has been a pleasant one. Looks like we may get rain! We need some but just don't need any of the wind & hail some places up north are getting today. Have a nice evening, Farm Girl from MO.

RE: Checking Mt. Tabor memorials
I think I got all the memorials gone through that had photos added to them. Sure wish the contributor who took the photos would have shared any additional info. she found when she took & added the photos. Sometimes my computer refuses to enlarge photos and it seems the day I tried to look at the photos it was having a fit of some sort. Took me the better part of a day to get updates done for all the memorials that she had added photos to. Thanks for offering to help. Have a good day, Farm Girl from MO.

Robison's at Mt. Tabor.
I went back and checked out the photos one more time and I believe that William Robison's stone must have been missed when records were compiled in 1963. The contributor who took photos of William Robison, his wife and their childrens stones added William's photo to his wife's memorial so I edited it to show his info. and created another memorial for Esther Robison. Her stone photo is incorrectly added to one of her children's memorials. Now the contributor who took the photos has removed the ability to leave messages on her contributor page so I have no way to politely ask her to change it. What a mess. I guess I will have to send Find A Grave an e-mail and hope they can correct the photos but that is almost impossible with my stubborn computer! Hope you day goes well, Farm Girl from MO.

RE: The four Robison's
Thanks for letting me know what the dates on the Robison stones look like. I looked at them again this morning and still think it had Esther's birth as March but I'm not sure either. Will have to try to find her stone sometime when I make it to Mt. Tabor. No idea when that will be as I'm tying to photograph a cemetery closer to me first. Thanks again, Farm Girl from MO.
