|Cheryl||John Edward Gray|
I've been doing some research, and have found some interesting information regarding John Edward Gray.
First, according to a tombstone transcription, he was born in 1883. I'm guessing it was late 1883, because the 1920 and 1930 US Census records listed his approximate birth year as 1884 (they also said he was born in Massachusetts). I could not find any record of a John Gray before 1920 in New York or in Massachusetts that matched the information I have. I did, however find many people in Bristol County, Massachusetts (where Fall River is located) with names matching or similar to Carrera. There was quite a number of people from Portugal and the Azores there in the early 1900s. I'm wondering if not everyone in his family changed their last name.
This might be a silly question, but have you requested John's death certificate from New York? It could take up to 5 months to receive the certificate, but you should be able to request at least a genealogical copy. Most death certificates in the U.S. list a birth date and the names of the deceased's parents, if the informant (the person providing information on the decedent) knew that information. If you haven't tried that avenue yet, it might be worth your while.
I'll continue to dig around and see if I find anything else that might be of use to you!

Hello, Edmund. I apologize for not responding sooner. I took some notes on what I'd found (which wasn't as much as I'd hoped, I'm afraid, although there might be a few leads you'll be able to follow), but I seem to have misplaced them, so as soon as I find them, I'll tell you what I know!

Hi Edmund, I saw that you left flowers on my fathers grave page. Thank you for that! I never knew my Dad, but am very proud of the man he was! There is not much family from his side left, & I am desperately looking for anyone who knew my father when he was alive. If you knew him, I would treasure anything you could tell me about him!
Thanks again! Shelly

I noticed you didn't have a birth date for John Edward Gray. Is it not listed on his tombstone, or have you not had a chance to check?
I've found a bit of information on him that you may or may not already have. Please let me know if you're interested.

Hi, Edmund, Spencertown cemetery is in Columbia county, not Dutchess as was erroneously entered. As Columbia County Keeper, I'm trying to
clean up duplicates, etc. Ben is listed in the Columbia county Spencertown. Please see if you change the cemetery he is located in to read Spencertown, Columbia Co. Let me know when it's done and I'll take my memorial for Ben down.
Hope I have not offended you. It's
so hard to do these things via email.

|Ed||John Edward Grey|
FYI, John E. Grey was born about 1884. I found him listed with wife Florence in the 1920 and 1930 federal censuses of Albany County, NY as age 36 and 46, respectively. In both censuses, his place of birth is listed as Massachusetts, with the birthplaces of both mother and father also being Massachusetts - probably incorrect, I imagine.

Thank you for making such a beautiful memorial for Father Frank. I have never met him, but from the wonderful wonds you said of him, I feel that I have known him all my life. I am so grateful to have met him, even through virtual reality.....so much for the spirit which obviously lives on....even through the web.
Regards and thanks,

In cleaning up the cemeteries for Columbia I noticed your entry for Benjamin Tassinari. Unfortunately Spencertown is listed incorrectly in Dutchess and correctly in Columbia county. I have requested the admins correct this error and move your interment to Columbia Co. You can delete this message as no action is required on your part.
