Glad the mystery is now solved! I'm sure this site clears up a lot of misinformation.

Johnathan Stark
Hi Joey - the reason for the duplicate is that you have his first name spelled as Jonathan; it is JoHnathan on his headstone and on my records. I see that you have Ann Akers, etc. added for him, so I will delete my entry.

RE: 1917 or 1911
I do not see any listing for an Otto Asbury in Friendly Grove Cemetery.

Emma & Wilson Asbury
According to one of my lists, they are both buried there. No location is given. I got these lists about seven years ago. I am not directly related to an Asbury. My families are Mahan, Foreman, McCammon, Ammerman, Boston, Reed, Stewart, Sills, Crist, etc. My ancestors were among the founders of Friend Grove Baptist Church in 1839. As you probably know, the Church does not own the cemetery and does not have records of the burials.

1917 or 1911
Mr. Asbury - I show Blanche with a death year of 1911 and you show 1917. My info was taken from her headstone many years ago. Perhaps a typo then. Would you please verify the date of death so that I can be sure I have the correct one?

John Stark
Hi Joey,

I've been hunting for information on John Stark for some time. I was happy to find his obituary! Are you related to him, or do you know someone who is? I have an incredible story to tell about him and how his influenced changed the life of my grandfather.

Added by Melissa on Jun 14, 2014 11:47 PM

Thanks, cousin-in-law! I will check the obituary and try to find some addresses. It sounds like Bill would have been the person with all the info, and hopefully somebody in his family has his materials.

Wright family connection and updates
Lavera Wright Kennedy was a second cousin of my grandmother, Ethel Wright Minteer. I've gone through all my other families getting info from Find A Grave, and saved the biggest for last.

In my great-grandfather's generation, siblings and first and second cousins come to 388 known individuals, so probably really over 400.

I know there's no way I'll ever get the lists of descendants complete, but I always like to add what I can. I'm hoping you will send a list of which grandchildren and great-grandchildren (of which I'm guessing you're one...) go with which of her children, and of course birth, marriage, and death dates--all the usual info.

And so amazing that she had three sets of twins! I've never come across that before in any of my families...

She was a blessing in all her families lives. We miss her dearly.I am married to her grandson but I loved her like she was a blood relative. She told me many stories about her life and her family,A real Christian lady.

I noticed your memorial of Hosea and the children you have listed. I was wondering if you knew what happened to William Sandford ??? I found where he died in 1918 Sullivan County but could not find his memorial. Any help would be great if you can. Thanks, deborah

Yes, I am also directly descended from Jonathan and Sarah (Laycock) Stark. Do you have any more recent Stark's in your line?

Margaret Keen Wilson updates
Joey, I've made the updates you recommended to th Margaret Jane Keen Wilson memorial. As you can see I added a bit more - Margaret was a Grand Aunt. Also, I am asking permission to use the photograph of her you posted on the memorial. Such photos are quite rare.

The Keene/Keen surname differences has been a genealogy challenge for a number of years.

Each year, since sometime in the 1940s (I think) there has been a Marshall/Keene reunion in Sullivan County, IN. I've attended a good number of them, and will be at the 2013 reunion tomorrow (6/29/13) in Sullivan.

Thanks again, Dan Stropes

C. Wilson updates & question
I've made the family links you suggested for Commodore Wilson. Thank you.

Also, I have a question - I note that you posted a group photograph of the chruch congregation on the Claiborne Cem. home page. I was wondering if you had any identifications of those in the congregation? I have a number of ancestors who lived in that area and am always looking for old photos.
Thanks, Dan Stropes

RE: Kenneth P. Baldwin
You are so welcome. I see you too added some more family photos, wonderful! BTW, Gwen is in Space 3 while Kenny is in Space 6, they are buried foot to head. This is if you want to add to their plot numbers. I will be laying real flowers on family graves when I visit home soon for vacation. Warm hugs, Dottie

RE: Gwen Baldwin
Mom was the one who got the photo for you and indicated she did not see his around there, he may not have a stone, BUT, Mom knows them at the cemetery and indicated she was going to go into office next time to follow that up for you. To be sure exactly where he lays. Will for sure get back to you on that for you. Warm hugs, Dottie
