There is now a photo of Sarah's stone. She is in Upper Lost Creek Cemetery. It is a very small, old cemetery north of the Farmer Cemetery. Her memorial is Find A Grave # 68199453

Born: Mar. 3, 1832 Died Aug. 22, 1874

Please don't forget to take down the request for her in the Farmer Cemetery.

Did you receive my "re-send" email with the cemetery page for her tombstone inscription atttached?

Just re-sent the pages from the Farmer Twp. Cemetery book for Upper Lost Creek Cemetery and another page with more info for the Luther and Wilsey surnames in Defiance Co. and Williams Co., OH.

Farmer Twp., Defiance Co. borders Williams Co. so it is not unusual to find families living in both counties.

Let me know if this does not come through; the first email I sent was to finderonebay--I sent the re-send to the email address you recommended Findeonline

Did you get the email with the cemetery pages I scanned and emailed Jan 2 or 3rd? Just wanted to be sure they went through to you. If not I can re-send them.

Sarah is buried in Upper Lost Creek Cemetery in Farmer Twp., Defiance Co., OH.

She has a memorial on Find A Grave #68199453 but there is not a photo of her tombstone. The information on her memorial is exactly what is recorded in the Defiance Co Genealogy Society Farmer Township Tombstone inscriptions book Vol 3 published 27 Nov 2000.

I will be happy to take a photo, but right now we have about 6 inches of snow on the ground and it is bitter cold! Once the snow is gone and it warms up, I will go take a photo for you.

Apparently Sarah's tombstone is inscribed with Sarah K. Luther, wife of J.R. Wilsey, because her tombstone is indexed as Sarah K Luther in the book mentioned above.

I will scan and email the page from the book later today. I could not go back to sleep, so got up to read my email and found your request. I am ready to go back to bed, so will scan it later!

Sarah Fleeman Murray Johnston
Sarah was the daughter of Thomas Fleeman and Sarah Steele (born about 1750). She first married Thomas Murray (b: 1740 in North Carolina and d: before 1792 in Clouds Creek, Oglethorpe County, GA). Sarah then married my 3rd Great Grandfather, Rubin Riley Johnston. She was his third wife. Rubin and his 2nd wife (Lydia Harrison) arrived in the area of Wilkes County that became Oglethorpe County about 1783 and were founding members of the Clouds Creek Baptist Church (names noted on the historical marker at the church). Rubin's will was written on 18 Jan 1823 and probated on 05 May 1824. Sarah died in Dec 1833. Many of the old headstones in the original Clouds Creek Baptist Church Cemetery are long gone. The actual church moved to a near by building site and as such the original cemetery was left unmaintained.

You're very welcome. Glad I could sort of help. It is dissapointing when a stone can't be found. But, I feel better thinking that the person still enjoys a "visitor" and the fact that they haven't been forgotten.

RE: Russell and Polly Sackett
Ok...I added the dates of birth and death for Russell and Polly then linked them as spouses. As I suspected, the photos were just put up by Thurmon King August 23rd of last year. I posted these in late 2009. His profile states that he is a Sackett descendant through his mother Grace M (Sackett) King (1910-1996). He hasn't asked for a transfer but if you want the memorials let me know. Otherwise, I'd like to transfer them to him. I had put up many memorials from that cemetery from an inventory I picked up at the Westfield Athenaeum. Then I walked the grounds looking for as many stones as I could find...wasn't very successful!

RE: Add a death date?
Hi Alice!

Glad to help! Did someone add a photo? I may have missed it, but I usually put up as much as I know when I first post a memorial. But...I'll need to know which memorial you're referring to. There's no mention in the note. Usually a link to the memorial is included in the e-mail. Is this person a relative of yours?

RE: Willie W. Coleman

I have added the birthdate as requested.
I live 400 miles away in Michigan and cannot take a picture for you and upload it.
If you can email me a picture, I can upload it.

The data that I posted came from the UWSP Cemetery Archives.

RE: Geer Family Cemetery
Hi Alice, I have checked Erma's obit and it states she was laid to rest in the family cemetery North of Elko. She was married to a Forrest Tow and that may be the cemetery that they are talking about. I will call tomorrow to Burns Funeral Home and see if they might know the location of her remains. Judy

RE: Steele Creek
I ran back by the cemetery today and added Jane H. Freeman who died in 1805(very bad tombstone, very rough)and Phoebee Freeman who died in 1803 and was probably a daughter or sister and David Jr. Who died at 24 in 1802. All in all a bad few years for the Freemans. There are a few unmarked graves between these Freemans so your Hugh could be there but the church has no record.

I would try Bethel Presbyterean (Cary and Helen Grant, Historians 803-962-2112 email and Pleasant Hill Presbyterean Church (Jean Thompson 704-588-2417)both old churches near by.

Steele Creek

I get extra credit for stopping by the graveyard on Halloween! I found Mary Frizzel Freeman next to David Freeman, as well as Margaret Freeman age 2. She may be their Daughter. No year on her grave. I also saw a Jane Freeman that I thought I photographed but evidently didn't. Let me know if you need it.

There is no Hugh Freeman in the cemetery that I could find nor is he listed at the church.

Hi Alice,
Hopefully I have not got you totally confused!!
I put the photo on now because I noticed that in the US Census and the MN Census this person sometimes put Frank especially in the earlier ones. In 1895 MN Census he is F.M. Luther and in the MN 1905 he is Francis M. Luther age 72.
So--Frank and Harriet Luther buried in Lot 23.

Luther photo request
Hi Alice,
I looked at the sheet showing all the graves at Prospect Hill. Harriet Luther was on Lot #23 as was Francis H. Luther. According to the 1880 US census Harriet was married to Frank Luther and they lived in La Crescent, MN. The date on the stone under father is 1833 which would be Franks Birthdate and not Francis as he was one of their sons. I could not read the death date for father.
This stone is in a different part of the cemetery than the other Luthers. Near the bottom of the stone it says At Rest.
Perhaps their son is buried there and not Frank the father as this is what our records indicate.
