RE: Re: Mary Strother Duffields
Hi, Bill...

The info I sent should have been posted to Richard's bio; instead it is posted to Mary's bio. If I sent it via the wrong link, my apologies. It obviously refers to Richard:

"Married in 1806 in Washington County, Md. Elizabeth Darke, granddaughter of General William Darke and daughter of John Darke. They had a son, John W. Duffield, 1809-1880. Elizabeth died in 1813. Bio by Ellen."

Richard's first wife, Elizabeth Darke, died in 1813. I don't know where she was buried. There was a family burial ground on the Darke property and she could be there, but if so there is no stone.

Richard married his second wife, Mary Strother, after Elizabeth's death; their marriage was 7 Jun 1814 in Jefferson County, Virginia (now West Virginia).

Elizabeth was an heiress under her grandfather's will, her father having predeceased her grandfather. The value of her slaves alone exceeded $1500 on her death. Some of the General's plantation passed to the Duffield heirs and the location is now known as Duffields.

Probate records for Elizabeth refer to her as Elizabeth Duffield, formerly Elizabeth Darke.

Hope this helps. Thanks for filling in the bio info, even if I don't have a memorial for her.

Mr. Jordan,

Thank you very much for the fine photograph of the marker of Knott. He was killed the day before Lee and his ANV capitulated. You took a nice shot.

Appreciated,

George

Zion
Mr. Jordan,

Thank you very much for travelling to Zion in this clime. Appropriately, the shot of Cordell that you kindly replaced was one in the snow. I hope you do not find me audacious in asking that the next time it is good for you to visit that nice place, would you please catch General William Price Craighill? He is a famous entry, and there is no mechanism to request on those. It sure would be nice. Thank you again Mr. Jordan.

RE: Hi Rex!
Hi Bill!

I sent you an email last week, to the email address listed on Find-A-Grave. I assumed you didn't get it or it got caught in your spam filter.

I noticed your name, when updating Aunt Annie's grave jn South Charleston and figured you had to be Bill's son.

I have photos that I have scanned of your father and grandmother, that I think you would like to have (if you don't already). I have a large amount of my work (and my grandfather Rex's work) available on Ancestry.com.

I have one really nice photo that I believe is Aunt Besse. Maybe you could help me ID it.

I'm sorry, my father (Tom) and I didn't find out about your father's passing until after the funeral. We would have attended if we had known. I did not know that Randy and Uncle Bob were able to make it, but I'm glad Uncle Bob was able to make it before he took a turn for the worst.

My email address is edward at crouser dot com. Hope to hear from you!

Take care...

RE: Trooper Allen Jeffrey's
Bill,

No problem! I took those several years ago when I was married to a Jeffreys and was so excited when I found my mom's grave photo (she's 3 hours from me) that I wanted to return the favor for the pictures I had!

God Bless!

Marcie

Photo request for Rachel Gould, Montgomery Co.
Hello,

As Ms. Gould is Jewish, her stone is not in place. In Jewish tradition, the stone is unveiled on the one year anniversary of the decedent's death. I was able to take a photo of the temporary marker, if you are interested.

Thank you.

Graves
Hi,

I know where his grave is. Very close to Walt Disney, Spencer Tracey. One day when I was taking genealogy pictures a man came up to me and felt that he had to show me those graves. He also showed me Allan Ladd, George Burns & Gracy Allen, who are in the building near Flynn's grave.

The cemetery apparently has many important people in its vaults and ground

Steen
I added the picture of the marker for Stanley / Pat Steen, and when at the cemetery I noticed a grave for a Mike Steen next to Pat's. I created a memorial for Mike. I am happy to transfer the memorial to your ownership if you provide me with your member number. I do not look up member numbers.
