RE: Elsie Riser
My husband is the grandson of John and Elsie Riser and nephew of PFC Merton Riser. Thank YOU for posting the information about his Uncle Merton. The only information we had was that he had been lost during the landing at Tarawa.

Thanks again,
L. Riser

Nancy Poppin Umland
RE: John George Slivkoff
Hi Bert,

Probably not a relative, but as you have researched so many, I have researched the Russian Molokans. They were a sect broken from the Russian Orthodox. I'm a descendent of many of the Russians; perhaps in time I will find out if I'm related to John.

Whatever information you have would be appreciated. His family would appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Nancy

Captain Harry B. Barker
I am Captain Harry B. Barker's nephew. My mother, Margaret Ellen Barker Mangold, was Harry' sister. My name is Gregory Mangold and I live in Richfield, Minnesota.

First of all, thank you for creating the memorial for Uncle Harry. Your memorial contains detailed information about my uncle that I have not known - especially his time at Quantico and his duty stations in the Pacific. I would like to know the sources of your information so I can add it to my research on Uncle Harry. As you might know his medals, including the Navy Cross, is on display in the Grinnell College Fieldhouse.

I look foward to hearing from you. On behalf of the family, thank you very much for creating this memorial.

Thanks so much for the info you provided for David Huber. I have added it to his memorial.
David was my father's first cousin, but he died long before I was born, so I only know limited info about him.

PFC Lucien T Levesque USMC
Thank you for the picture of PFC Levesque's tombstone. He is the uncle of a friend. She appreciates that you took the time and efford. Personnally I have two cousins buried in the Manile National Cemetery. One was PFC Frank Serio USAAF, who died because of the Bataan Death March on 05 July 1942. The other was PFC Salvatore Cannova who was KIA on Leyte on 21 December 1944. I have their pictures. Again, Thanks. Sal Serio

Corp Robert Francis Garvey
Thank you very much for the photo of my great uncle Robert Garvey. My late mother and father spoke of him often. To my knowledge, I believe my father is the only one in the family to be within 100 miles of his gravesite. That was during the war so no one in the family has ever seen a actual picture. My brother will be thrilled to see it. My brother also gave me after our parents passed all WWII items (memorial flags, posters, my uncle's medals (2 purple hearts, navy cross, bayonet, pistol, captured flag ) Sorry for running mouth here...
I am going to have this picture mounted along side my uncle's medals in my den. Thank you again. This means so much to me.

The information about PFC that you have on his "flower" is worthy of being in his biography. I would suggest that you use the edit tab at the top of the memorial to suggesting this addition. They are pretty good about updating this memorial, or they may even automatically transfer it to you to add the information.

RE: Marion Franks
Right underneath the Bio area there is a "link family members" feature. Just add these memorial numbers for his folks: Father (John): 71176884 and Mother (Luella): 71176897. I would have done it if I could, but you can only add parents to children not the other way around. Thanks!

Billy J Baugh
RE: Arthur L. Fawl
There is no marker of any sort for him near his parents' graves. However, it is possible that he was buried at Golden Gate, and then was moved to another cemetery by his family. The VA records are not 100 %, as I have come across people who've been buried here since the '70's and earlier, but were never imported to findagrave the couple of times that the VA has imported to the web site.
